We raced a gas turbine kick this weekend

Post by Johansson » Mon Mar 30, 2009 6:55 am

This weekend there were a top speed race on ice in Funäsdalen in Sweden, we ran a turbine powered "kick" and had lots of fun even if we were tired like hell yesterday.

Nice work!
"woot"
A shrill, obnoxious noise/word used by immature people to express happiness or excitement.
Supposedly started in the gamer community, but is now used by any slack-jawed moron to express delight.

Hopefully the event comes back next year, then we will return with more jet vehicles. I am considering putting skates on the jetcart and plans on a pulse-jet powered kick are already being discussed.

Finally there is a way to race these things in Sweden! :D

As you can see in the movie my beard caught fire when the afterburner backfired, it looks a bit funny now even though I´ve trimmed it down some... :D

This kind of events are great, no one really cares about winning and top speeds because it is all about having fun and making noice.

Tjenamoss M!

Just to let you in on a secret I have plotted the Thunderchine drawings and are just about to glue them onto a thicker sheet of paper for stability, next year my aim is the top speed record on ice for jet powered kicks. I´ll let you know when the engine is completed and I´m about to build the fuel system, the idea right now is to use a small 2-stroke engine to power a gear pump and run the engine on etanol or straight gasoline through spray nozzles but input from you on the subject is much appreciated.

Thanks for the info about the longer intakes, we can continue the discussion in the Valveless forum and in a more commonly understandable language later when I´ve started to build it.

If it is possible to fit the augmentors and still have space left for the drivers legs I will use them, I guess time will tell.

Hopefully there are enough vehicles next year to have a separate jet propelled class, wouldn´t that be something? 8)

Good point. Would be nice to have if you're going for speed.
