Unusual source of ME 262 artwork

Post by WebPilot » Sun Sep 28, 2008 12:07 am

For a fine line drawing by Ron Lesser/John Berg of a Messerschmitt Me 262, then track down a copy of Blue Öyster Cult's third album, Secret Treaties (1974). On the back side is an even better drawing of the plane with four wolves.

'Frell' there is even a song entitled ME 262!

PS I found it last Friday at my favorite flea market - it only took two years!

If you're having trouble finding the LP, you can always buy the CD - but the drawings are smaller.

I found the song, ME 262, as a video on youTube.

Actually, I found two. One of these is good, but the other is absolutely excellent. You'll have to download these to your hard drive and keep pressing the pause button and rewind from time to time. There is some really good actual film footage.

I saw among other things:
  • the back cover drawing on the back side of the cd
  • take off and landing footage of the Me 262
  • cannon salvo at speed
  • a dogfight
  • some Japanese manga art (one appears to be a Horten Ho-IX [often called Gotha Go 229 or Ho 229])
  • a bat wing roaring upwards through the atmosphere; I think it's a ME-163 Komet!
I found the song a bit 'lame' but with the vid and the rest, quite excellent.

I love the Internet. :D
