Hello,
first let me introduce myself. My name is Robbie Jackson, I live in the uk, Leeds and I'm currently looking at creating a fun project to make my car something different. I belong to a car enthusiasts club for Mitsubishi GTO/300GT 's. I attend many car shows a year and have been looking for something fun to pull in the crowds.
-What i want to do?
Im not really looking for ANY power output at all, but what I do want to do is perhaps mount a micro turbine jet engine under the bonnet or perhaps on the rear of the car, it's the sound these amazing machines produce that I want to recreate for that "wow" factor... I know pulse jets are quite simple to make, but they don't really produce the sound Im after. I've just read the amazing story of Ash's jet engine build, which is beyond my level of expertise, but wow what a sound!!
Comments and suggestions would be great. Im a complete noobie when it comes to jet engine construction and design.
Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from somebody soon!

Hi Robbie, and welcome to the wonderful world of gas turbines!
If you want to mount the engine to a car and have no previous knowledge of turbines I would recommend you to buy a complete micro turbine with ECU control since building one will require lots of work, knowledge and the right tools. There are many companies out there that sells engines, I will post links to the ones I remember right now.
Remember to post lots of pics if you decide to go on with the project!

Hi!
Have a look at http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIYGasTurbines/ and the flatmobile.
There are other good designs of GT engines and many very good people that will and can help you in your quest to build a GT engine.
John "racketmotorman" it the GURU on these things, he have helped many people including myself wrt DIY GT engines.

Re: "under bonnet gas turbine engine"
Interestingly enough, I was browsing through ebay motors the other day looking for a Honda CRX Si 1989-1991 model with a blown engine. Light car and would be fun to build a ~170SHP turboshaft engine for it and install a CRV differential to make it RWD. I'd bet that car would be a blast!
