Thermos Combustor?

Post by Gez » Tue Aug 12, 2008 6:50 pm

Hi, I am in the process of building a gas turbine based on a turbocharger, I was thinking of basing the combustor on a stainless steel thermos flask using the outer piece as the combustion casing and the inner piece as the inner combustion chamber. The outer piece is 240mm long and 75mm in diameter widening to 80mm. The inner piece is the same length but 5mm less in diameter. Does it matter if it is not the same diameter and could it work?
Also should I have the fuel pipe squirting straight into the combustor at the inlet pipe end or coming in from the opposite direction?
Any other advice you could give me would also be much appreciated.
Sorry for the bad explanation but I could not put pictures on.
