for that kind of air movement i think you would need something around 140mm total diameter, i might be totally wrong as its not really my field, but i did check with somebody relatively "in the know".
A compressors around that size is 3533272
Inducer - 93, Exducer - 142, max blade height - 46, total impellor height - 72, matching turbine would be part number 3535977, exducer - 111, inducer - 129.
They both come from the HX82 Turbo Charger.

We are making big titanium compressor wheels , but im not sure how your coming up with the kg/s detail. Is that provided by us or did you guys work out the air flow?
On Monday ill get you some details on even bigger wheels, i think we go up to 6 inches, so i guess somewhere along the way we should be able to come up with the right one for 1.5kg/s!
The titanium ones are amazing, ill get some photos up soon. i use a few scrap ones as paperweights, almost expensive as my Shreckling paperweight

Thanks for that :-)).............I came up with the 1.5 kg/sec from "somewhere??", but can't remember where unfortunately , you know how it is , trawling around the net , you find something , then stupidly not send a link to "Favourites" for future reference .
I've searched in vain but can't seem to be able to retrace my earlier steps .....duh :-((
Theres seems to be a "gap" in compressor wheels between "normal" turbo size of ~5 inches dia with 4 inch inducers ,until one gets into aero engine ones at ~9 inch dia with 6 inch inducers , hopefully something made by Holset in the 6-7 inch OD with 4.5-5 inch inducers .
I'm very interested to hear what Holset make in their largest size :-))
Looking forward to the pics

Your certainly right about the gap, as mentioned the largest compressor wheel we have here is about 6 inches. Then its a big jump to the next ones found eleswhere!
I think you got the air flow values from our website, after a quick look i discovered the values are given for each of our turbos, for example

gives 1.5kg/s for an HX82 - which is our biggest, HX83 is the same, but with a Titanium Comp wheel and a cast iron housing - because when them things go, they need the iron to hold the shrapnel in!
The HX82 comes with a variety of trim, dependant on the application, maybe this affects airflow, but surely not by half a kg?
I think we do offer larger turbos, but not here in England. Thats where my usefullness ends

which runs out of puff at a bit over 3 lbs/sec has a ~106mm inducer , your wheel would need to be somewhere around 110mm inducered , with an OD of possibly >150mm to get good high pressure capability and 1.5 kgs-3.3 lbs/sec .

Compressor - 3596536 - Inducer: 100mm, Exducer:154
Turbine - 3535977 - Exducer: 111, Inducer:129

Rotorracketman, can you tell me more about those castings you are offereing?
I am about to draw up a plan for this engine based on the reverse flow combustor setup. I decided on this design as I am planning to run this engine on kero/diesel with evaporators and i want to ensure it will burn fully. I thought id get more info on these castings you mentioned as I probably will have to take in some consideration in the design for these.

Hopefully i can rekindle this thread
I have found some time lately to get some things done on this project, sorry for letting it die a bit. Work makes me travel away for long periods at time. Takes me away from my hobbys alot.
I decided to use 6204 bearings as theres just not much else available. This is just devopment stage anyway and they are only 13 dollars each so easy to replace. Ceramic bearings dont come big enough for this one, and I was unable to find standard high speed steel ones this size either. I chose 6204 as they are nice and chunky and solid and probably will stand up to a bit more abuse. They are 20mm ID so I had to turn up a collet to take out the shaft from 16mm to 20mm
The shaft was actually 15.95mm so I made the inside of the collet 15.92 and heated it up before sliding it on, making it shrink on and lock itself there. The idea is that if I want to I can still remove all these parts and assemble the turbocharger back in its original form and still use it for anything else. Such as a standard external project.
I also turned up a bearing spacer, out of alloy which is a sliding but tight fit and another collet for the second bearing. I will then turn up another alloy spacer to go between the compressor and the second bearing, so I can use the compressor nut to "clamp" everything together.
This will also aid in assembly as the turbine end on the shaft cant be seperated and it must go thru the turbine NGV end so everything must slid e onto the shaft from the turbine end through.
The plan is to make the bearing at the turbine end locked into the shaft tunnel houseing and make the compressor end bearing movable with wave washers. This is so it can be assembled from the turbine end and still allow the large NGV assembly to be installed.

Ive actually got back into this project again, Work and other commitments have taken me away from it FAR too much.
Ive made the compressor back plate and am starting to cut the vane guides. Photos soon:)
