This is what I got until now, shaft and tunnel still missing, NGV not machined so not fitted on the picture.

Needs some time to complete such an engine I think. But it´s coming together.

The end has finally come! I finished the engine today, it took me quite long as i didn´t had access to a lathe a long time but now I got one so I was able to finish it.

Some parts were bought here at the forum but quite a lot were made by myself. I started a first attempt of running it today but it was difficult as I had no power source for the glow plug so i had to use a lighter at the end of the engine. It was realy difficult to get the flame to jump into the cc but finally it did and the engine was running on its own, after 20 secs I stopped the gas supply and the engine spooled down. I dismantled the engine after that test and recognized that the rear bearing has seen some intense heat from the flame burning outside the turbine but was not damaged. The greater problem was that the ngv, which became a bit bigger from the heat has pressed against the tunnel and the tunnel has became a bit smaller at the area were the bearing sits so the bearing was stuck in the tunnel and the preload system couldn´t work anymore. So I took some fine sandpaper and sanded down the inner diameter of the tunnel so everything goes smooth again. Next testrun, then with some video, is tomorrow... :D

Here are some pics! You can see that the bearing and ngv has seen some real heat! Lubrication was supplyed by a little tank which was pressurized by the engine itself. Those 3 plugs are fro Fuel, Oil, Air for the Oiltank.

So, yay my second running Turbojet! And the first parts I´ve ever made on a lathe!

what an awesome little build. well done mate, i really like the mix of machined and hand built parts, for a budget project this is a nice little jet!

So, got some video footage today! I let it run for about 5 minutes today without any problems, starting is very easy when the glowplug is used!

After I got home I dismantled the engine totally and found that the preload system was stuck in the tunnel again, I think this is due to the remains of the oil I used. I will see and get some 2 stroke oil and better use that in a mix with diesel so not that much oil is burned. There is a hot spot at the bottom of the turbine wheel seen in the video, this is from the oil which is burnt! The rear bearing was totally full of remains from the burnt oil and after the running today I think I should better get some real bearings... at least for the hot end, the front bearing still looks like new! Creep of the Turbine blades is noticable at this moment and I will see if I can get a better wheel for a good price. Ngv shows no damage and still looks like new.

I took a picture from the CC to show the heat pattern, I think the flame is to far away from the front and I think Im going to make the swirl holes smaller and see if the engine runs better.

So thats it, next testing goes on when I´ve got some better bearings. Im now thinking of maybe designing a freepower stage after the engine, using the wheel i´ve made by myself so I have to get a good wheel anyways... :D

Now have fun with the vid and tell me what you think about the heat pattern.

nice little turbine photos

I like the doily.

This is the first time I've ever seen a jet photographed sitting on one, and it seems a real step forward for propulsion.

Just kidding -- that's an awesome build!

Good run . Congrats. Eisele turbines verkauft gute 608 ceramik Lager . Beahlbar. Sehe auch ebay Deutschland.

think about using foil bearings on hot-end, they don't need oiling and they are widespread in commercial turbojets.
It wouldn't be hard to make one.
