Jet Luge
Something I just posted on the message boards
t's just now official!!!! The Blue Smoke Jet Luge will be appearing and running the 1/4 mile at Maryland International Raceway on August 20th as the opening "act" for the Jet Wars Show.
Here is the headline for the show:
For the first time ever, witness the world’s fastest fire-breathing Jet Funny Cars and Jet Dragsters in side-by-side eliminations! Plus Bob Motz's JET POWERED Kenworth, the Adrenalin Crew Motorcycle Stunt Show and MIR's exciting FRANTIC 7’s! It's the wildest show in drag racing - don't miss it!
The promoter asked if I could get that "thing" over 55mph.... I just smiled...
For event info goto their site at
http://www.mirdrag.com/ and look for JetWars
Sponsors???
Also a link to a video of my first official ride
http://home.comcast.net/~bobswartz/JetLugeMaiden.wmv
Wish me luck.

re: Jet Luge
I just put some more unedited videos up. I really need a new cameraman
He did tell me the video does not really show the shock and awe of the speed. lol
Anyway 89.5 mph in less than a 1/2 mile and I was not even pushhing it.... to new for that..

Truly awesome!!
When we PJ-guys start to get dynamic results like this, then I'll really be excited.
I especially like the perspective of a jet luge out-accelerating a V8-powered piece of American iron.
Good work man!! Keep safe, and have fun.

re: Jet Luge
This ride hasn't stopped long enough for me to take a breath.
2 more videos
The first is the new promotional video to be used to hook or tease sponsors and event hosts. A DVD version is available for commercial interests.
http://www.jetluge.net/video.html/videojetluge.mov
The second one was shot for and aired on Discovery Channel "The Daily Planet" in Canada
http://www.exn.ca/news/video/exn2005/11 ... 1-luge.asx
Both were shot on Nov 6th, prior to and at Maryland International Raceway during the Import vs Domestic Finals by 2 different video crews.
Have fun and be safe
Bob
Those flying boots freak me out... I think I will send him a few FOD screens at least. WOuld hate to see the pilot chute go somewhere it shouldn't. that looks like all balls and zero engineering. I may steal the fuel "bladder" idea though...[/url]

Bob, this is great! You are sure generating some publicity for the sport.
And the TV guys didn't even mangle the story too badly. Good stuff.
Best of luck.
