So were has that old BD5 with the two 130r Gluhareffs got too? any body know?

It would be fun to fix the 130s or fit some new GLC 200s and see it actuelly fly.

BD5 a perfect airframe for our 150lbs turbojet engine. We have a 1000lbs turbofan under development, is it too big for BD5 ?

BTW, here's a turbojet version BD5

How come they didn't mount the engines directly behind the pilot instead off to the sides? Or maybe the pilot was a skinny fellow and his backside wasn't big enough. ; ) It's just a streamline factor I posed awhile back, saying the more streamline the engine the better.
Of course there are several planes that do so, but there are quite a few that opt to hang them on the wing or somewhat off-center for some reason.

Found this one in our Bagotville Military Base airshow archives ... But no 130R behind ... :(

Just a 240 lbs. thrust turbine on it ... :(

Keep on looking ...

I recently read an article in the September issue of Air and Space at work about the BD-5. One time the pilot experienced low oil pressure and had to land on a highway and coasted down an off-ramp into a gas station running over those rubber hoses that went ding-ding when a car rolls over them and came to a stop, back in the days when you didn't have to pump your own gas. ha
The Bond film decided to use this true story in the film, sort of a tongue-in-cheek humor, I guess a perfect match for the film's genre. The pilot even saved the newspaper article about the event to prove that it was true.
PS I had to type this paragraph twice now, (the first write-up was better), I lost power and am under a tornado warning from hurricane Gustav that is about to hit Louisiana, the center of the hurricane about 200 miles west of me. ha
