Nanosoft's annular jet

I have been reading skyfrog's topic and have been inspired. So i decided to go on my own annular quest. Here it goes.

First i picked a lockwood type pulsejet to start with. Then i made it annular and kept all the areas the same. Its amazing how compact it turned out to be. Anyway, tell me what you think. What did i do wrong. Will it work. Please comment soon because i plan to start consruction and lathe the whole thing this weekend. Its probaly all wrong because i made it all up but hey! Whatever. Thank you all.

That is fabulous, Mikhail! Truly. I've been advocating that the guys actually crunch the numbers on Lockwood dimentions and see what you're really in for. This is a great little piece of work. I can't wait to see it run, and it will.

It's a fabulous thing. I love it!!!

My advice: Forget about the bullet nose and machine it spherical. Omit the rear part of the gray area and just make it tubular. No need for an enclosed space there -- unless you want to situate a heat exchanger there or something.

I believe, as Mike does, that it must work.

I like it very much. I proposed a similar thing on the old forum, but had no knowledge to develop the proper dimensions. I also added some complexity, just to make more of a project out of it. It is better to build something simple and get it working than to dream something complicated and wonder about it forever afterward.

Larry, Nice engine. I forgot all about it. The only thing I can say is "wrong placement of exhaust front end". If it is a separate resonator (and it is in this case) the open end must not be at the pressure antinode.

Look also at Tharratt's Saunders Roe pulsejet It looks confusingly similar to this, but its chamber is within the exhaust duct, not wrapped around it.

If the exhaust is physically separated from the chamber, its front end must be moved to the pressure node.

So, unfortunately, Robinson's Black Beast never wanted to work, much to my chagrin. I gave him an entirely wrong idea two-three years ago.

The first pictures have arrived. First i have decided to not put a bullet nose or sphere nose on the jet, instead its going to be flat. The reason for this is because a bullet nose would only help if the jet was moving through the air. Since this is a prototype, and it will not be flying, i'm taking the path of least resistance(or the easy way out, take your pick). The pictures are of the almost finished nose piece. The jet is going to be divided into multiple peices and then assembled with small bolts. This is for ease of construction and so i can make quick changes fairly easliy. I hope to have more pictures of the finished piece soon(tomorrow). Thank you all for the support and ideas.

Great work! A good decision on the form of the nose! I think we are all waiting for the first results with bated breath. I know that I am.

Is that 4 jaw chuck self-centering or are you going all out on this project?

Thank you all once again. Mark, no the four chuck jaw is not self centered. I should have the nose piece finished by the end of the day. Hope it works.

One thing that i am now taking into great consideration is how many fuel injectors should i have. I'm thinking four. I think that if there was only one it wouldn't be able to fill both sides of CC. But with four the fuel should be evenly spread through out the CC.
