M500 build log

I started building the M500 today! I'll use this topic as a build log.

I made one half of the tailpipe and the intake items. I'm going to need more steel for the rest of the engine. The intakes are also the only components of the engine I can still roll by hand, I'll have to find a company somewhere to do the big ones for me. My college has a nice sheetroller but I don't think the workshop's going to be open during summer break.

Anyone from the Netherlands have a sheetroller I could use or knows someone/ a company that could do it for me (dirt cheap, preferably)

Ace_Fedde, are you still on the forum?

As far as I know the most powerful valveless pulse-jet ever build.

Je zou als verbrandingskamer een expansievat van een CV misschien kunnen gebruiken?

Nah the cc has already been designed and an expansionvessel is way to small and not made from stainless steel.

Bought 14kg stainless steel for some parts-aaaand it's gone.

I used the steel to cut out the rectifier and the 2nd tailpipe half. I had some smaller pieces lying around so I could also cut the cc and chokecone plates. Managed to roll the choke and intakes myself, might also be able to do the cc and tailpipe by hand. The rectifier and tailcone will need to be rolled with a sheetroller.

fun fact: the single most expensive part of this build up till now was a can of sprayglue.

How are you going to fuel this beast?

Iran isn't stockpiling oil for nothing

I'm not sure how I will fuel this engine yet. Petrol vapourizers or something. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

I have suggestions and ... , materials 8)

I've a whole bunch of fuel pumps and nozzles for high pressure hot water claeners. They heat with diesel.
Also I have a great deal of experience in replacing diesel by waste vegetable oil from restaurants .... 8)
And I happen to be stockpilling this oil because I get more than I spend 8)

Because of the low frequency of this engine it would be very doable and interesting to experiment with non continuous fuel injection!! I'm thinking of a common rail diesel fuel pump with injectors (probably road train size  ).

Hey Fedde,

I'm all up for a bit of experimenting, particularly with non-costly fuels!

Might be a good idea to start her up with a normal continues source of fuel and when se's up and running, swith to timed fuel injection?

Do continue!

Rolled the tailpipe and cut out one half of the tailcone. The tailpipe was a bitch, still not perfectly round. I hope I can fix that once the tailcone is rolled.

Monster started to take its form. Very curious to know how you are gonna fuel this beast.
