Thanks for the detailed explanation...

My brief water comment was not intended to be comprehensive, but thank you for that.

My greatest concern with methanol is a steady supply at a low cost. It is for my purposes the ideal fuel.

The little glue cans usually run dry, but I have pulled some pretty wet stuff out of some pieces of pipe....

Steam is a common occurrence wile I am tinkering.

It is interesting to note that I have adulterated Methanol with things like air tool oil and had the little jet burn through all of that as well, once started they seem rather un-picky. That having been said wile I have large propane tanks about the place I have no desire to run jets on it. I am currently working on liquid fueling exclusively.

A carburetor like device is in the works. Fuel from a pool is primitive and impractical for propulsion, or most other real world applications.

Cheers.

(Just a few crumbs)
I know you can get away with using watery methanol sometimes, but it can also be quite annoying with some designs. In summer in Florida I have some simple jam jars and pint snorkeler that refuse to run while in the cooler months they ramp up nicely. And any water in the methanol only makes it worse. But on the other side of the fence I have a small tank with a short snorkelette that you can leave out for a month in the yard with an extemely loose fitting cap to keep the rain out and it will start every time on old fuel from previous and more previous runs. And one ridiculous design I put a Ghrey-long snorkel on my piglet tank with another opening at the base and very much like my little Logan, convection plays a large part in refreshing the air inside the combustion chamber. If you cock my little Logan at about a 45 degree angle with the side port low it will rev up sometimes 3 or 4 times without re-spritzing just by waiting a few seconds before relighting it. So if you have dry air and/or perhaps the methanol is gradually heated a little, water is not as much a hassle if you have constant snorkel convection introduced on your side to refresh or constantly maintain the fuel/air ratio from becoming too humid or rich.
Here's a few convection/chimney effect picture tidbits.

I built a convective device a wile back, it would buzz at the intake ports, until it would have a massive backfire. It cleaned the rafters well.

Here is a much more open design, I am working on, slowly.

Definitely a work in progress.

That valve I was working on, no good, that's how we learn.

Trying a different fueling approach, that odd growth on top of the new engine is an as yet non-functional part of it.

Cheers

Very nice.
I really like the way that's going. If you can get one to run in full pjet mode without any intake acoustic property that's going to be amazing. You're almost there!

A few more variants on that last one:

Much larger CC.

More later.

Loving it. I think you are continuing to break new ground with that! I wonder, would it quit when you get it running and slowly tip it up to vertical?

The shorter ones are generally better able to run in either attitude, but It never occurred to me to move an operating engine.... I may have to try that.

A little correction:

An "I" drill is .2720, I have no Idea where I got .290!

I seem to have posted this error in a few places. Sorry if I have caused any confusion.

Just did, or rather re-did, an inline version test.

In this order:

30" 1/2" pipe tail pipe.
1/2" to 2" bell adapter
2" x 8" pipe.
2" pipe cap with approx, 1/2" hole in it.

If ignited from the tail pipe end it buzzes ( ish ) along for a wile on methanol.

No pics or videos, sorry, limited time lately....

Video ....

The screws you see on the intake side do nothing but plug the holes they are in, parts re-use.

The fuel is Methanol.

Mostly to busy to do anything jet wise these days. BUT.

For a variety of reasons, I have decided to build an upscaled unit;
scaleup.jpg
Bigger is sometimes necessary.

New CC components on left, Old size on right.

We are preparing to move on top of everything else, so it may be awhile, before there is thunder.

Cheers

This has just been brought to my attention.

Odd that I had not seen it before.
