I got all of the pulse jet tacked up and about half of it welded this week. Next week I should be able to get the rest welded next week and get the fuel nozzles done. Maybe two weeks I'll start making so noise!

Thanks Mike. I got the fuel nozzle holes drilled today and the cap for the nozzle welded in also. Getting ready to fit it to the test stand. Might try to run it today.

I got it running today. Hope to have some good video next week. Starts easy but requires a lot more fuel to start. It does not seem to be make as much thrust as the smaller one. I'm running it on a 100# propane bottle so I don't know if it's getting enough fuel. Also the combustion chamber and the U are glowing really bright. I kind of afraid I'm going to collapse the exhaust tube again.

Wow you slapped that one together in a hurry, nice job! What kind of material did you use for that engine, 1mm? if so then you need not worry about colapsess

It's 316L 18 gauge which I think is close to 1mm.

I got the engine running on gasoline today but it's getting too much gas and flaming out. I've got a fix in mind and maybe next week I can get all the bugs worked out. Here is some video of the engine. The first one is a walk around of the engine. Sorry it's so long.

The next one is of the engine running.

Good progress! I would suggest a low setting on gasoline once running and cut off the propane before proceeding(?) Are you using a vaporizer setup for the gasoline?

Re: big lockwood style plans see if you think it will work
The gasoline just goes into a separate nozzle just like the propane one. I think it is going to be hot enough to vaporize the gas. I'm using a dump style system for the gas. But I'm going to have to put another valve on the line going to the fuel nozzle. I'm going to try that next week and see how it works. I think it's going to make good thrust. After I get the fuel system worked out I'll measure the thrust.

Can you elaborate on your liquid fueling system?

Looks like the cold air is condensing the gasoline. What was the approximate temperature of the gasoline in the tank? Great work.

It's just another fuel nozzle just like the propane one. I don't if you looked at the walk around video but it shows all of it.metiz wrote:Can you elaborate on your liquid fueling system?
It was cold outside today. I'm guessing around 35f.PyroJoe wrote:Looks like the cold air is condensing the gasoline. What was the approximate temperature of the gasoline in the tank? Great work.

Ah crap, yeah should've done that
Ok that clears things up

May want to heat your tank to near 95f with warm water, and add a little methanol to the mix. The fuel lines may need some insulation also. Definitely sounds like there is potential there.
