Dual augmented mini's and other jet stuff

Post by Eric » Thu Mar 11, 2010 3:02 am

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to upload some pics since its been a while.

Here's a few pics of a mini FWE, dual augmented, both adjustable/removable. Both augmenters are pretty well optimized for maximum augmentation per tube, as well as maximum positive feedback to the engine. Between augmentation and compression boost, it should produce around 2lbs thrust, all 100% stainless.

Once the camera recharges I'll get the dual augmented mini thermo pics up, and some other neat stuff.

Also we will be offering 'to go packs' for the hobby engines, where you get a discount for buying engine, stand, augmenters, and flexible fuel line with fittings to connect directly to the engines stainless fuel line.

beautiful work as usual

Does the extra weight of the augmentors outweigh the extra thrust produced?

In stainless the power to weight ratio is about the same - to slightly less depending on the engine and size, ultra thin aluminum, pretty dramatic power to weight ratio increase..

Most of the mini's are being used on rc cars and boats, or just annoying neighbors, so weight isn't a major concern, but the efficiency boost is always a plus.

Its nice with the mini's because you can have a 'massive' augmenter for high gain, without the whole thing being ridiculously big.

I've always thought it better to augment a straight piper, and so spent all of my time on non-expanding tails. I'd really love to throw some good augmenters on one of my recent motors (with either .93 or 1.18, or 1.43 ID exits).

Mike,
In the not too distant future I plan on having an augmenter assortment pack, available for small engines, say 6 different sizes that you can do in depth tests with. from .7 - 2" ID

Things definitely get a little crazy when you try to augment an expanded tail, when you wind up with an augmenter almost as big as the engine itself. Almost need something that stamps the augmenters from aluminum putting in a textured hexagonal pattern in it for better rigidity while keeping weight down.

Cool. I'll buy one. I'll play with clocks until then!
