Thanks Barry, here is a pic of a seam on one of the intakes. Nothing special but then it is difficult to get that "stacked coins" look on thin sheet metal.

I welded up the engine today, it looks straight to me and all of the tolerances are met.

Here are two pics of the starting grids, I should have taken the pics after I welded the intakes and grinded the inside smooth but you get the point anyway.

Only the fuel system and front engine mount left to make before I can fit her to the kick, hooray! 8)

Sweet build

This engine looks quite a bit different from the previous one. More traditional

Thanks. Here is a pic with the two of them beside each other that I took yesterday, not that much difference when looking at them from a distance but the new engine is completely redesigned so not a single part from the old Thinderchine can be found on it.

Very nice build again! Looking forward to test results :D

Only just realised the encap is bolted on. Is there a reason for that? Also, is the combustion chamber stil a cone?

Thanks guys! Before I tangle myself up any more in fussy explanations about the engine design which I don´t know enough about I ask you to sit tight and wait for a PM instead.

But yes, the combustor is slightly coned.

The end cap is there so I can get the preheat coil into and out of the engine, it is made from 2mm SS sheet so it will also be a good place to fit the front engine mount. I considered putting a flange on the combustor/transition cone joint as well but it felt like it would get so much heat that it might warp and leak so I settled with the end cap flange.

Really beautifull.....I see you weld with a TIG.
I have a MIG/MAG & need after a lot of grinding to make it smooth. But I do the grinding always after she runs good.
Can you make some pictures from the injectors, maybe it will help me with mine. And make also a video from the starting and running. :D

I haven´t given the injectors any thought yet, so I don´t know how they will look. Are you going to run your engine on propane?

Rest assured that I will post a video of the first test run!

O.k., doing it with your helmet on... alrighty.
But doing it while roasting your balls?? Strange guys those Nordish Swedians.
