Greetings.....
I was using the the word as follows
reminisent
=reminding or suggestive of
I was in no way sugesting a comparison of technical detail.
There are plans available for the scale ups of the classic chineese has anyone built and tested any of the large units?
I just like the visual effect of this style. I would think that if we are venturing for efficency from energy we are in the wrong scope of dicipline but the fun factor is undeniable.
The utilization of multiple flow ports is well researched, documented and intigrated in all forms of fluid flow specificly if footprint is a factor to be considerd.
On valveless engines, sweetness is all in the details.
I would concur.
I have built some but ugly and inefficient units, I now am leaning more to the visual perception.
Cheers

Let's try this again:

If anyone needs to know the flow rate(s) that Thunderchine requires for a specific fuel, and you are not
confident of your maths, just ask me. Send me a PM; I will answer. "Bad maths = one unhappy pulsejet"!

Troy, this mistake was not one of a misplaced decimal point, or at least this was not your only mistake.

Troy and M -

Remember, you gentlemen may not be thinking in terms of the same size "gallons"!

Larry,

I can assure that we are both thinking in terms of US (liquid) gallons (3.7854 liters);
however, if Troy mistakenly converted from milliliters to US (dry) gallons, or to the
Imperial gallon, then his result would still be incorrect* -- after shifting the decimal.

Closing out this sub-topic, here is a great photo of correctly installed starting fences:

Direct to combustor injection

Post by milisavljevic » Tue May 05, 2009 10:38 am

Hola Joe!
milisavljevic wrote: I sized the liquid system throughput at 1400 ml/min (ca. 22 gph; gasoline).
Quite by accident, we may soon have direct experimental evidence that Thunderchine
will support direct to combustor injection, ie., we can bypass the intakes for fueling.

This development may simplify the fuel delivery problem as well as increase effciency.

I will update this thread when more information becomes available.

Update:
milisavljevic wrote:At 30 C, Joe's "as-built" Thunderchine would be expected to resonate between 168-173 Hz.
Thanks to Joe ("GRIM") and Tim ("wakmat"), this issue is now resolved. The 180 Hz fundamental
first observed in Joe's Thunderchine (initial video) and subsequently, Tim's Thunderlite (188 Hz)
was correctly identified here as an open pipe acoustic mode (ie., a coupling of intakes to tailpipe).

This mode occurs when intake mounted injectors are improperly placed and/or undersized, and as
such is eliminated via proper injector placement and sizing. Joe's "blowout" video demonstrated a
fundamental frequency of 167.2 Hz (via weighted harmonic series); this is in excellent agreement
with the model of his "as-built" engine. Similarly, Tim's revised engine is in exact agreement with
its modeled dimensions and operating conditions. No sonic mysteries or acoustic anomalies here.

Yaaaay! :D

I managed to get a couple of runs in before winter sets in , heres a short vid of Thunderchine
running on gasoline and propane,

I am using the dual fuel injectors as in the photo , and not using the vaporizing coil,

Thrust was about 20 kg at the beginning of the run, I was unable to observe the thrust at the point just prior to flameout,
but I think it is safe to say that there is a significant increase ,

For the record , it will run on the vaporizing coil, but I was unable to get any decent video ,

HI,
i'm kiran and i'm new to pulsejets and to the forum..
i was very much impressed by the thunderchine and took it up for fabrication.. but now when it comes for testing it simply wont start but gives a howling sound and thats it... could you please help me in starting it up...?
here are some of the specifications...
fuel injectors: 2x1x7mm pseudo roscojector shaped at 100mm from the flare, compressed air for start up and manual ignition..
i dont know where i am going wrong... plz help me...
i've uploaded a video regarding the same in the link below.

Greetings.

No maintenance for the original Thunderchine plans thread, or any subsequent threads, will be forthcoming.

As I am no longer a member or a participant in this forum, existing builds will be supported via email only.
If you have not already received a valid email address from me, one will be forwarded to you in due course.

Prospective builders are advised to look elsewhere for plans. If you are NOT a novice builder, I recommend
you search for pulsejet plans from that most excellent, mild-mannered of active, on-forum builders, Metiz.

Kiran,
You should find many plans in the 'looking for plans thread', might want to look for the classic 55 lb lockwood design, the performance characteristics should be similar to what you are looking for, and is easy to start with the right injector.

I hope this one gets built and tested many times here. It will be interesting to see the fueling variations that will undoubtedly be attempted.
