Hi all! this is my first pulsejet the linear Elektra. All dims except for the cc I think are the same as the elektra 2.Its all mig welded and has a tiny pinhole leak that i can fix tuesday when i run it!I have been lurking for well over a year now so i would like to now what you guys think!Fuel line is about an inch into the intake and is unregulated propane.

cicada -

I'll bet you'll get that to run with little trouble! If it runs well for you, build another one with the intake and tailpipe going into the corners of the box instead of the flat sides, and compare how they run. I'll bet you'll be amazed at the difference. What made you decide to build her in a "linear" form?

Good luck with getting her started! Your biggest problem will probably be that it's easy to overwhelm the engine with starting air -- you have to go really easy on the air supply for starting. Just kind of "tease" the air into it as you gradually increase fuel flow, and you'll soon find the right "setting". See if you can provide some video once you've got the hang of it.

I made it linear because i didnt have alot of time to try and find and octagon box but I had this one lying around.after this ill build a smooth lady and then the lock reynst monster or I guess I could build the reynst first but im not sure.Oh so many choices but so little time!

That looks like good LOUD fun. I look forward to seeing some video/runtime pics. Try to get sound.
In the process of moving, from the glorified phone booth we had to the house we have.

No real time to work on jets, more space, no time.

Life still complicated.

At this stage, and considering time constraints, go with the Smooth Lady. That's a really good runner, quite easy to build, and produces a really unique looking engine, too!

The Lock Reynst Monster was an idea, NOT a design! There is a big difference. It was basically the exact "folding" of the Lockwood into a more "Reynstish" configuration, INCLUDING making the intake coaxial. It would take a LOT of design effort to put numbers on this idea (i.e. actual construction dimensions), and I'm sure it would still require a LOT of experimentation to make it work. A coaxial design also requires extremely accurate building, because they won't run well if the intake ends up being slightly out of round or slightly off-axis. And, of course, getting the fueling to work right is inherently difficult. Very tricky stuff, believe me.

I couldn't get her to sustain but that might be because of my crappy ignition coil or the exhaust pipe might be to short.Well I was aware it was more of an idea but from the first time I saw a coaxial I was fascinated and have always wanted to build one and I might actually contribute something to the forum in the process.I will get more building and designing experience before i attempt it though.
