3d printed in stainless? What's the process, DMLS?

Also, are you trying to tell me I'm wasting my time fixing up an old milling machine, and the time I spent learning to weld was pissed away as well?

:)

I think it’s SLS. They originally balked at 1mm wall, but I told them they could weld any voids. Then the plan is to print in a few pieces and weld together. We shall see…

Wow that's a crazy design Mike! Should be really interesting to see this thing printed. Are the protruding round parts meant to affix the aforementioned augmenters?

The six ports on the head are so I can drill six fueling holes into the CC, the one on the front u-bend is for an instant start fuel stinger.
The six ports are to be tapped and plugged, with one selected as the main fuel feed.
The augmenters will look like this:

All of my work on “straight pipers” has led up to this.
The augmenters are going to take some iteration, and if the basic motors turn out nice enough to use, I’ll be considering sending one out to one or two die-hards for a little “who can augment this the most” fun. I’d really love to have a practical valveless approach for RC jets.

I need to downgrade the thrust estimate. This basic motor was 3.3 lbf, so augmenting may take it to what, maybe 5?

Do you think the combustion chamber heat will contribute to the augmenter effectiveness? Let's make a poll: I say the augmenters will get it up to 5.5!

Bruno would love that one, Meredith effect(?), used on P-51 to make more thrust. It would add a convergent section in front of this otherwise divergent ejector...

Actually there’s 5 fuel ports, as I couldn’t get access to drill 6.

Getting there, here is a pic of the parts after printing. They will be removing support material, welding and finishing soon.

Oh, someday we will molecularly print ALL materials, in hitherto unknown alloys and densities, and a host of disciplines will die.

They look really good, man.

To counter our other argument, I'll just say "paperless office" :)

Who wants to actually, seriously play with augmenter ideas?

These are absolutely awesome, so incredible that this is even possible. :D Great to chat earlier Mike. So much ground to cover. Looking forward to hearing everyone's input ref augmentation. Particularly if anyone will try steam boost, liquid fuelling and so many more things to try out!!!

Man those look great Mike. Next gen manufacturing right there. Even though you've posted some dimension, I would have loved to see a banana for scale haha. When are you planning to take them for a spin?

Ship from China, customs, 3-5 days travel time, 6 months? ha
We shall see when they arrive.
Then it's fuel holes, tapping holes, sorting out the instant start stinger, etc.
I can't wait to fire it up!
