no, just a tube pointing 90°

to start it, I begin with a very low ammount of air and gas, otherwise I wont get any explosions.
once it starts roaring at low freq, I slowly increase the ammount of air while doing the same with the gas.
once the air and gas flow is enough, the freq will suddenly go higher (and so the noise), increase a bit the fuel flow and slowly remove the air supply, it should be running by itself now

I have a video where you can see how I start it
http://www.geocities.com/pulsejetweb/

the video link is the word "descargar"
(geocities doesnt work with links to files from other servers)

The video helps me a bit. I tryed starting my chinese engine with and without a needle valve, but low temperatures and propane...
I used a vaporizer, so maybe removing could help...
I'll post again, when there is something to tell.

Thanks, Pablo!

Gentlemen

Your first post stated:

1. “Testing will resume in March, when we plan to measure the QD-80's TSFC and collect audio-video recordings of the operating engine for full analysis.â€

Pablo,

I like the Kite jumping pics. I wanted to try this as a child (25 years ago) but no kites big enough were available. I was going to make a kite from one of my mothers bed sheets but she caught me... oww!

Cheers,

Wilson.

Milisavjavic,
Thanks for that extra info.,well put as, ever.

Can your discoveries be used to scale up to make a valveless p.j. producing ca.100kgf.thrust(220lbsf.)?.
Thanks in advance,Ray.

I am a patient man when it comes to the science of pulsejets. At the moment, it appears that I have time on my side.

Best regards,
M.

When will you be rolling in dough?

It sounds as good as the X-Jet, but I haven't seen the numbers played on the table. For now a pile of poker chips is just sitting in the middle of the table, and nobody seems to want them. Fame and fortune just sitting there.

100kgf. purpose

Apologies for misspelling your name ,Milisavljevic.
I will continue to write it in full,it keeps my brain working!.

To answer your question;well I entertain the fantasy of building a 2000kg. total mass aeroplane using a valveless p.j. for thrust.
So, the minimum thrust I'll need is about 2x 100kgf.
I suspect I'll probably need double that for safe performance.
Best be over than under-powered.
It's all theoretical ,if the licensing authorities are reading this.

Milisavljevic and Hinote,
Did you mean that you'd be publishing results in march, or just recommencing your p.j. research in March.?
I recall you promising us something very interesting from the next reiteration of your research. Thanks for the excellent work. Ray.

Whatever the original intent was, the current status of the project is on temporary hold.

The engine has been disassembled after the semi-disastrous hot shutdown of the QD and the resulting deformation. Parts are in hand for repairs.

I'm reorganizing my PJ construction effort, with new welding equipment arriving soon to try and keep costs down (I contracted for expensive TIG welding on the QD--a practice I can't afford to continue!) .

Also, the unreliable hydraulic system on the thrust stand has been replaced with a spring and cable system.

I have several other developments to pursue related to the current project, so things are NOT standing still.

Meanwhile, M. has gone MIA (he's a very busy person).

Stay tuned for more PJ progress in California.
