Measuring operation frequency?

Post by NickC » Sun Nov 05, 2006 2:20 pm

What will I need to measure the frequency of an operating pulsejet? Isn't there some kind of program online I can use? What should I use to record the frequency? nothing expensive, just something basic that will interface with a computer. I think anything will be compatible with a computer, just plug it into the line-in hole on the sound card?

so I should save the file first, then play in the RAL? or have the RAL on while I'm recording and save it afterwards?

NICKC:

This is what you would call a application program. It provides all the file support you need. RAL will ,Generate and save the file for you, for later use and or analyzing. You can do real time analyzing via spectrum analyzer, O-Scope, and a few other cool tools! When you first down load it and run, you will be a bit overwhelmed with everything it can do! Just follow the prompts and you should be alright!.

I'm shure there is other programs out there. But this one did everything I needed.

I've been using RAL for a couple of years. Once I got a decent mic and mixing board, RAL was a great tool for getting the settings right. Just looking at the O-scope mode allows you to keep what you are recording from becoming clipped.

cool, as long as it measures frequency it's good by me lol. what about amplitude? would a pulsejet with with the same frequency but more amplitude produce more thrust than the pulsejet with the lower amplitude?
