I have been in the non-testing mode lately, but I think this kind of straight duct would be less apt/less slippery and not let all the air and fuel out the tail end before burning.
I've run a straight duct with a single reed at the front, but it ran and was lackluster. I think the gases need to be confined more or mixed up more before the combustion products escape. That is why I thought the ripple pipe would be something to try.

PJ history making ? Yes and No .

Of course it runs !

You guys did not reed my short note causiously enough.
I said : "That engine has some guts".
Yes, it has lot of guts.

I am addressing four problems :

1. Heat
2. Noise
3. Vibrations
4. Structural Integrity, ( eliminating heat distortion of its geometry )

That's why, I call it 4X.

Congrats Ed for finding some new ground for the forum. Those straight ducts look easier to make. ha

Currently I do not have anything to measure thrust or frequency. that is my next thing to do. I just run it on propane for about 30 sec and I shut
it off.
Cops would be comming at any time, since it was done in the midle of Phoenix.

I was pleased with that, and different sound it produced. But without numbers it has not much value, what I say now. Heat pattern was
lot different from standard engine and it was rock solid.

Mike, what kind of instrument we had to measure thrust. For some reason
I did not take a notice. I have to get something like that to get "trustwothy".

I will keep everybody informed as we progress.

That's the spirit, Ed! I love this. Congratulations.

I also love straight pipes. I always did. The BCVP was supposed to be a straight pipe except for the intakes....

You used an internal tailpipe constriction(?)

I rather like the layout and I'm considdering attempting a micro linear acetlyene fueled version.

Congratulations!

I can hardly believe that the engine ran/runs! The pictures are showing the pre-run situation, aren't they? I'd have thought of more discoloration, though.

Could you just post a short video clip?

As steve pointed out do you have something build inside, perhaps you call it “gutsâ€
