I swung an ashtray at you, but you were too far and I missed. I was born in 1951 and read Dan Dare in the early 60s.

I wondered what the hell that clunk was against the side of my house earlier...

I tried to run the engine (unsucessfully) with a diferent augmentor today. It has a 47.5mm throat, is 178mm long, has a flare with a radius~8mm and has no taper. Would the augmentor generate enough back pressure to prevent the engine from sustaining (because it didn't)

Another problem was that I had to run it with the original fueling configuration because I couldn't find my new one (I think my dad may have thrown it out) this may have contributed to my inability to start the thing.

Steve, this is great! I love it. Since I love it, it must work, of course. :o)

More seriously, the layout should not generate any problems for the engine. I don't see how. Experimental data of other people (much wiser than I am in matters of pulsating combustion) also says that it should be OK. So, the problems should be somewhere else. That's what I think.

An video for a crude simulation from the software I´m making for this engine.

for a beginner, I´m thinking in building this design, it is better to try another one?
I think the properties of this design is good for a beginner.

dear Suns,

i tried your 2D-Sim for calculating focused shock wafes with cones or wedges (as on PDE pulse detonation engines also used for fast ignition and DDT deflagration to detonation transition) . Your software works really fine !!

see here image of pipe with cone reflector focusing the shock waves from open end.
