My wild ride started with a trade with Eric.

http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb2/viewto ... +thermojet

Since then I have torchered the poor thing and bought the 20lber via Adam Eric built...

I wish I had a shop but do not! Before I was laid of I had access to a shop and could have some fun.

This site is as close to sanity that I have. I can learn stuff. I can do things. I can have the fun I had when I was a little man!

The PT9500 has failed to self sustain...10lb of LPG later....hmmmmmmm it worked well with 2 induction conduits....I think the single one is just to big back to the drawing board......

Just saw this. Nice family you got there!

Hey folks I figured out one problem with the PT9500 I placed the intake wrong DUH just in to much of a hurry to make noise....will adjust this week.
And another Concept as attached based on Larrys augmentor driven engine.....comments opinions are more than welcome.

My next build????? hopefully soon.

Edit - Oh and I was also going to ask if anyone has tried a simple or compound vortex mixing plate in the induction duct we used these in the outlet of exp chambers to reduce the back flow of air into the chamber they theoreticaly should provide better mixing and reduce outflow....a sketch soonest. - Edit

Vern -

That's OK, except that you're basing it on a pulsejet model. The point of the cyclical flow engine is that it should be a constant-flow self-feeding ramjet. The neatest one I ever saw was just a tubular circle with an offset - imagine a giant lockwasher made out of hollow ductwork. Ingeniously simple, though I thought it looked bulky and probably inefficient. (This was just a patent drawing, not something actually built and running, so far as I know.) One problem was that there was no well-defined diffuser section. Come to think of it, I'll bet a really good one could be made from the outer shell (volute) of an old centrifugal furnace fan!

I think the more 'minimalist' you can get it, the better it will be. I'll bet if the overall path is too long and narrow (high circuit Q), it will end up pulsing as you roll up the power level, whether you want it to or not.

Larry

Thanks for the input, the attempt was to obtain a full difuser extraction at the end of the CC the slight choke was to slow down pulling the flame front to far down the difuser section. This probably would cause some form of minimal pulse combustion and would assist with maintaing combustion in the CC.

I just have no idea of the velocities involved to calc a choke section to retain the flame front. It is a concept for now and I am curious as to how and if it would run the volume / velocity of starting air would be critical and of course the recycled portion would also be critical

I was at the cottage on the wknd and contemplated this one...(looks cool)...the conical intake should reduce the intake duct thrust potential to at least 1/2...(of Steves current form). It is @ 4deg (1/2 angle) for max refraction as 8 deg would be to large where it meets the CC, in order to achieve the acoustic resonance required (I theorise). Comments welcome and apriciated.

OK at times things don't work out but modifications have produced a viable engine....S$*T happens...LOL
It works well and I will call it the FWE2X..K

An Old and new

Post by Vermin »

Sunday in Ontario...snowing cold windy...Hmmmmm what will I do..This.....she loves liquid propane just devours it!!! The garage was cold and on vapour it was pretty mild at full throttle (typical of some units). A splash of LP and OMG shook the stand and the whole shop...preliminary stuff so far but..... fun for a Sunday.

Hey Grimm...you are correct, although it seems to be a bit rich at first when it settles into gaging down the heated fuel it becomes very responsive, it gets so freaking hot it is almost scary...running it indoors in the garage with the doors open is not the best but this is Canada and it is cold here this time of year -4C today....SLV.

I think that maybe staging the intake for the liquid feed (similar to a pressure jet) may improve things....who knows (another project?).

I have to cease production for a bit and build a rocking cradle for my daughter she has advised she has the 9 month flu.....my first grandchild...OMG I must be old now......LOL

Will send the vids...and I am still working on the LA...just to many on the go...Love the scorpion effect of your last one.......take care.
