Nitous Oxide use

Post by nitro » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:23 am

I read how the V1 was given Nitrous Oxide 75 years ago so I tried it to on my er90 Pulse Jet.And it worked.Uses it fast mind you but how simple.Just turn on the No2 and then wind up the fuel pump to soot.It went from 13.25 to 16 lbs with ease.Only problem is as the no2 runs out the overrich Jet can just flame out.
It would be ideal for drag racing with big V1 type Pulse Jets. The 9 oz bottle lasted only about 30 seconds.Heat was not a problem :D

How about That.Seems the Pulse Jet cant get enough Nos.After putting a drill bit .85 mm through the Nos jet I gave the er90 another go & got 20lbs thrust.Where will it end. :P

Last run on a er 90 with N02 gave it 23lbs thrust then the second fuel pump I had connected up for the extra fuel snapped its drive pin.It gobbles it up fast.A 2lbs bottle goes in 90 seconds and gives a 40 % boost in thrust.
