For those who wanted a dyna and could never afford one heres your chance.. I believe they brough the tooling off Curtis ??? But could be wrong. I have one that should arrive this week so will put it thrpough its paces. They will also stock Valves shortly and I bet the price will be very very good..

I am aware I would need to find a suitable fuel tank for one of these, is a fuel pump required?

They are on ebay now to.Price is going up.could buy for $65 at first.
Re: Hobby King Dyna jet
There is also someone now doing a buy it now for $198.50. I guess since he shows the ignition system and other tidbits included it looks like a good deal because you had to pay a lot more in the not too distant past for a Dynajet with ignition and parts. It was a HobbyKing engine, HobbyKing ignition, and their mounting parts.

A couple of reviews. Funny, both go on about the tailpipe not being round. Neither is my real Dynajet purchased in the 70's, but the welding job is pleasing to the eye. In some way, I kind of like the way the two blanks have a hint of ovality, especially at the flared tail end, perhaps an unintended stylishness, different from the norm.

I've talked to Curtis Dyna fog personally, they did not sell the tooling to Japan, its just a copy.
Re: Hobby King Dyna jet
I have started my two with my own flowjector, spark plug & buzz box.Goes good .Just about 10mm shorter than my OS pulse jet from 1950.Almost as much thrust as it.Only the Red head has a different thread in it so the OS,Dyna jet & Bailey Flowjectors cant go straight in.Just run a Tap in so they can.change these parts for better ones & run Methanol. Not methylated spirits a it has ethanol in it .Need a 1.6mm main jet to. Cheep est way to fix all this is file, cut ,Lathe-some of the thread off the stock spark plug so the center sticks right to make a 3.5mm 360 Deg spark .Mount it at 7 O'Clock.Connect a car spark plug lead to it.Run earth back to car spark plug then run car .Flowjector can be fixed to but need photos to show how.I cant do that here.

Re: Hobby King Dyna jet
These reeds will fit the Dyna jet , Bailey Sportjet, Jetbill sportjet and the OS jet, and probably a few more that take the dyna style reed.. These reeds are very very well made

Re: Hobby King Dyna jet
Hi all,
I've had alot of problems trying to start my HK pulse jet ( see the attachment)
I get bangs and sometimes it seems very close to getting into resonance,
but I'm afraid I'm still doing something wrong. I used 60psi compressed air
and 95 octane gasoline as fuel.
During the first test yesterday I just aimed the air pistol at the blowpipe of
the flowjector instead of using a tube to connect the air pistol with the blowpipe.
Could this be the problem? I'm going to try again tomorrow with the neoprene tube
between the flowjector and the air pistol. (see attachment)
I also noticed that alot of fuel gets blown out of the inlet.
Does anyone have an assumption of what can be wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Hobby King Dyna jet
Is that a fuel pump you are using? Why don't you try a straight line to the fuel tank and have it so that the fuel level is just about 1/2 to 1 inch from going into the metering jet. Then when you puff in air in short bursts, check to see that the fuel is getting drawn in. It sometimes helps if the jet is somewhat hot. I think 30 psi should be enough starting air pressure. You could check to see if the petal valves are aligned over the holes and maybe run water through the metering jet to make sure there isn't a a burr of metal or obstruction of some sort. Maybe you could try angling the air in not using the blow pipe but that's sometime tricky and you can end up pushing the fuel back toward the tank instead of drawing it in.
