First time building a pulse jet

Post by GDMan » Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:15 pm

I was wondering if somone can give the awnsers to afew questions (I am a n00b to pulse jets but i have chosen to make one as my final project for my mech. engineering ONC).
I found a set of plans on the internet for a jet called the PJ15 by bruce simpson, but i noticed on the PDF file i have there is only one sheet but on the drawing it says "sheet 1 of 2" so i think i'm missing some infomation. Anyway down to the questions!

1) What is a good radius for the valve retainer? I know if the rad is to small then the valve will flex to much and fail premiturly.
2) How to design the petal valve and what thickness of spring steel to make it out of for this size of engine?
3)How to make an intake venturi without being able to spin it? (seems like it might be abit thin to turn)

Here is a link to the plans that i am using: http://www.zachmiers.com/pulsejetbook/plans/pj15.pdf

I thank anyone who helps in advance :D
