After doing a lot of experementing I think valves with springs like they put on hit & miss 1 cylinders that open on their own with no cam or push rod will work only on a larger low frequency engine. I think it would be easy to design a pulse jet engine around some 5 hp single cylinder gas engine exhaust valves. Those valves have a low enough mass they should work on a very large engine like the German V1. A hit & miss engine typically runs at 400 to 600 rpms and throttle govern engine runs at 1000 to 1200 rpms. The german v1 ran at about 42 to 45 pulse per second. 1200 rpms / 60 = 20 per second. If this idea could be profected I think a pulse jet engine could run for 100s of hours just like a car engine.

Well i was thinking the springs would hold the valve shut and you woul ajust it with a nut on the top of the rod for the right tenshion
