Pulse to Ram

It has been brought to the table in the past that the Marconnet is a poor Ram jet. After thinking this over for awhile, I think the style may perform reasonably well. A engine should be able to build enough forward momentum to utilize ram pressure.
Maybe enough to jettison/detach the tail pipe and utilize the CC as a ram jet. If so, a well designed engine would be able to launch at zero velocity and work its way up to over Mach 2!
I'm sure this has probably been brought up before, but is food for thought.

(Noticed on several DIY ram jets the intake is approx. 85% of the exhaust area. In my own valveless engines, have adopted 88% which could easily be pulled down to 85%. Does anyone have dimensions on high performance Ram jets akin to Bristol Thor? Specifically the intake to exhaust area ratios.)
