The bit I found interesting is this ....
... "This bike has two [engines], although it is really one engine with two tail pipes,” Maddox said. “I stacked two 60-pound thrust engines and opened a hole between the combustion chambers and that makes them cycle as one.”
I remember seeing somewhere on the forum two chinese valveless joined via a "U-bend"
to the end of the combustion chambers.Perhaps it could've worked as per what
Robert Maddox did.
Just an idea.
Also noticed that here in NZ on the 'Trade Me' site someone was trying to sell
a valved pulse jet bike.Robert Maddox has some good viewing on
the you tube site for his other bike.

Because he always made valved pulsejets, I think it shows agreement with this engine.
