Jet boat (or tug) ready for tomorrow!

Post by Irvine.J » Sun Jan 27, 2008 1:26 pm

I got bored, crap looking one armed jet boat, its the best i could do with 1 hand and a whole load of left over stuff. The boat is way heavier then what I'd like, i'd expect more of a pulsejet tug boat, then a "jet boat".

Tomorrows a public holiday, hopefully I'll be able to get it started on a blower out in the field, and burn down the river at a massive 1mph.

the boat weighs 6.2 lbs, 7 lbs with fuel. Laird chinese gives around 5lb on a good day... sink or swim you think?
I also have no idea if i can start it on a blower, man, i hope so, needs lots of pressure here when kicking onto liquid.

For the record, I know this boat looks like a floating turd, but i'm just trying to kill time since i'm not allowed to do shit for a while on doctors orders. So get a dog up ya! :P

Hey James , you done good with only one hand , i especially like the pull pull rudder

just a comment on the blower , i assume you are talking leaf blower right?
and would prefer to use compressed air

well i have had some success with using a spare tire from my pickup as an air tank ! , just pump the sucker up to about 45 psi at the gas station, (for free)

I silver soldered a fitting to one of the old fashioned metal schrader valve caps , you should get the general idea ,

might get you out of (or into ) trouble, and in any case good luck with the boat tomorrow

It's not a turd, it's beautiful. It'll go far faster than you're expecting, I'll bet. I love the use of tupperware!

Impatiently awaiting video!

3:00 Am: Morning of the 2nd of feburary, 2008....

Finally finished making my own 12V NiMH battery cell to power the pump, should last well and truly till the fuel runs out several times! Tomorrow gents, weather permitting, we are going to annoy the hell out of the dolphins!

First fuel mix will be gasoline with a 15% mix of methanol. Woot!
