Continuous Detonation Engine

Post by BrianT » Sun Mar 29, 2009 6:15 pm

Stumbled across this board and thought you might be interested in a new take on a detonation engine. A Japanese group has developed a continuous detonation engine based on the principles behind spinning detonation - a marginal mode of detonation that occurs near the detonability limits. Hope this is of interest to the readers of this site.

Very good catch!

Interesting blend of technologies and ideas first developed in the 1950s (eg., Reynst, Snecma),
albeit without detonation waves (ie., continuous pulsed combustion). Thank you for posting it.

Cheers,
M.
