Shchelkin spiral

Post by Pieter van Boven » Mon Aug 29, 2005 9:37 pm

Hi everybody!

Would it be possible to make a Shchelkin spiral? After some reading about PDE's it is clear to me that you must have such a device to built a liquid fueled air breathing PDE. ...and most of us here like building...

who knows more about it and would it be possible? This is what I found so far:

This is the ripple in the wall of a 12.5mm thick steel tube as a PDE fires!

It is exagerated a bit for clarity but it is accurate, this ripple is caused by the combustion pressure wave.

So before you start thinking about building a PDE start thinking about the engineering involved:-)

Its a bit higher duty than sheet steel pulse jets thats for sure:-)

I thought this double posting thing was bad luck but there seems to be a server problem with the host, it loses communication during the post upload
