What Is The Biggest/Smallest Pulsejet I Can Build?

Post by Mike Kirney » Tue Aug 10, 2004 8:03 pm

Pulsejets of all types depend on resonant pulsation to sustain thrust-producing combustion. Because of this, very small jets are unlikely to work. Most successful modelers build jets that are about 65 to 100 cm long (26 to 40 inches). This dimension applies to both valved jets (like the Dynajet) and also to valveless jets (e.g. the Lockwood-Hiller). The largest jet I know of is the Argus 014, as installed on the V-1 flying bomb. Its resonant duct was 330 cm long (almost 11 feet!).
Trig IS fun.
