All said, Firefox is "buggy" in Ubuntu. It does act up from time to time.

I came home today to a house where the microwave display was blinking (no time display) and the 110v electric clock was 1 hr behind - major household electrical power failure!

I had left my computer "on". It has an SPS attached to it, but I believe it will only supply power for about 1/2 an hour. The screen was dim with an orange asterisk on the display. When I pressed the spacebar, the screen 'lit" and I was in a console session with error messages.

When house power was restored, my machine could not successfully reboot unattended.

The error message on the screen was
the fsck should be performed in maintenance mode with the root filesystem mounted in read only mode (root filesystem is currently mounted in read only mode)

I spent a bit of time trying to get this Calligra font to work. I finally had to compile and install it manually. Running mktexlsr remedied the final "glitch".

Since the root filesystem was already mounted in read only mode ...

The machine rebooted successfully and has been running "just fine" ever since.

This is not a glitch that exists solely with Linux.

You may have noticed the new Google search interface, which features a new left-hand navigation (left sidebar) and a modified Google logo which looks pretty cool. The new side panel highlights the most relevant search tools and refinements for your query, making it easier to find exactly what you’re looking for.
