motorPSYCHOS - punk/metal female band from the 'burgh

-----

I ran into the 2nd CD of this band this summer at a flea market. It was entitled "Piston Whipped" (maybe they meant "pissed 'n whipped"?). I had the opportunity to hear the first song, "primer" and fell in instant 'like'.

They are a punk/metal female (3 girls and one lucky guy) band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA. They are playing in the bars there. They are NOT a cover band, they write and do their own songs - very talented, great lyrics and not bad looking.

To get an idea of how good they really are 'live', watch this video of a song they do called "Primer"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcFwdrsxA1I

There are 3 more videos on youTube to watch; Suzy Sydal and Bullshit are great songs but the video sound is poor. I get a kick out of them live in 'Pittsburgh 10/30/04' though - remember it was Halloween then.

Check'm out.

some downloadable tunes may be found here from their upcoming 3rd cd:

I'm going to the 'burgh tonight to see them at a place called the Rex Theater - $US2.00 20 oz. beers all night long.

Some lyrics I can remember from "Primer":

flat primer gray ... resurrection from the grave ... frankenstein of metal ... this is the day to breathe ... dust in my wake

There were several bands playing in succession at the 'gig' last night. While waiting for their turn to play, I got the opportunity to talk to each of the band members and 'hang out' with one or two for a while. Priceless.

When their turn came, they played songs from their new (3rd) CD which is coming out in January. Three of them you can download as .mp3's from their webpage; matriarch, monster and mudbucket.

I got to stand right up close to the stage. I think Pam caught me watching her perform closely and she winked at me!

Yeah ... I had a good time.

I have just been informed ...

The Girls Rock & Girls Rule! Tour is all over the east coast. For tour dates of the core band see their myspace website:

http://www.myspace.com/girlsrockgirlsrule

As they say "if you want curves in your rock ...", go see them.

I'm game (and I get to see local bands, Lovebettie and MotorPsychos, too!)

I found a new cassette(?) of the Dead Milkmen's "Big Lizard in my Backyard" for a quarter at a car cruise. I bought $US4.00 worth of brand new punk music on cassette from the 80's there.

I sent the output to my computer and burned it to CD. I knew "Bitchin' Camaro" but I found this whole CD quite entertaining. It has now joined the other CDs down in the garage and I play them when I'm working on my "toys". A copy has found its way to where I draw, too.

The very cream of the crop, to me, is the above and V.F.W. (we're all veterans of a *ucked up world!) and Right Winged Pigeons (from Outer Space).

Check'm out.

PS I forgot to add this was a garage band that made it big enough to go on tour. They made it to the 'burgh, too.

If you have been reading one of my other threads, namely,

the Illustrated pulse jet in 3D,

then you know I am involved with the problem of drawing an effective flame/exhaust for my pulse jet models.

I have been 'fooling around' with a fireball idea and so, I decided to put a logo I drew for the band 'into the fire' - heat treated maidens of metal!

Anyways, here it is ... and I think it came out pretty nice, eh?

Wow "The Dead Milkmen" -- I went to high school with "Dean Clean" and Dave Reckner.

Have you ever had a chance to see the Ritual Space Travel Agency or Coinmonster out your way?

Well, what do ya know... someone else from PSH. Didn't know Dean but do remember his mom and dad working there. Media and social studies.
You'll never know 'till you try it.
