Seems more like a typical American the way she speaks and so different than what you would think from the above photo. Nice personality I thought.

Harvard cracks DNA storage, crams 700 terabytes of data into a single gram
http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/1346 ... ingle-gram

"Here, we develop a strategy to encode arbitrary digital information using a novel encoding scheme that utilizes next-generation DNA synthesis and se-quencing technologies (fig. S1). We converted an html-coded draft of a book that included 53,426 words, 11 JPG images and 1 JavaScript pro-gram into a 5.27 megabit bitstream (3). We then encoded these bits onto 54,898 159nt oligonucleotides (oligos) each encoding a 96-bit data block (96nt), a 19-bit address specifying the location of the data block in the bit stream (19nt), and flanking 22nt common sequences for amplification and sequencing. The oligo library was synthesized by ink-jet printed, high-fidelity DNA microchips (8). To read the encoded book, we ampli-fied the library by limited-cycle PCR and then sequenced on a single lane of an Illumina HiSeq."

A good article I thought.
"For a year I had only been able to order “a coffee.” There was choice again, alongside trees, people, cars, noise and smells. Initially I was overwhelmed, and my perception and perspective flooded — this was sensory overload. It was as if I were a child again, learning things for the first time, except with prior memories. I felt free."
"In remote environments, people undergo a well-studied change and can develop “winter-over syndrome,” which can involve depression, irritability, anger, insomnia, inability to concentrate and avoidance tactics — not to mention the ‘1,000-yard (Antarctic) stare.” I saw it and felt it; no one in our crew was spared."

Strangely funny review of a jam jar wine. I was thinking it would be amusing to try to modify the bottle in order to make it "jam jar".
