While I like abstract thought/associations, the song and his statement combined, "Two homopolar rotating cart built with neodymium magnets drawn from a soul of iron," seemed a bit incongruent/flowery.
Surely this is the duet/song he should have chosen. "With you I'm not shy, to show the way I feel, my secrets to reveal, for you are a magnet and I am the steel... "
I like sensitive scientific analogies, don't get me wrong. ha

How is a magnetic field used for cooling?

"Magnetic cooling technology exploits the fact that when a magnetic material, in this case the element gadolinium, is magnetised, heat is produced as a by-product of entropy. The principle of entropy is that there will always be a constant amount of order/disorder in a substance. When the magnet puts the substance in “order”, it has to get rid of the excess disorder – and this becomes heat. Conversely, when the magnetic field is again removed, the substance becomes cold."

What I especially appreciated was the comment that this project was "completed in 2007 at the conceptual level." Man, you don't know how many projects I've been able to finish up in just that same way!
