Just a cartoon but I liked the idea about skipping the toast.

What might be better is a little jam jar that levitates and you light it up and it spins slowly perhaps. Don't you think?
Or for Mike a little helicopter with low drag spinning blades that seem make it fly/float, kind of a sight gag. ha

Someone's comment. ha

"I'll bet that if no other magnets were there, it would spin longer ;) "

Some viewer comments were interesting.

"I like the motto, "if you dont try you dont know" keep at it."
"If you don't try you don't know" Great quote!"

If nothing else, I admire the spirit of this experimentation. You know when you are working on a fun project and the answer seems close at hand. Whether you reach it or not, the effect or curiousity is such a driving force. You find other things out, discover something new regardless.

It might be fun to use a magnet in some way with a putt-putt boat, jam jar or pulsejet. Perhaps as some sort of valving assist or something. It's just a feeling that I have, some sort of vague yearning. Maybe it could be like the pulley and bow, both having been around for the longest time and yet nobody thought to try it/combine them.
Of course there are magnets and magnetic fields used already, for making the spark. Buzz coils and buzz bombs. But what to do with magnetic fields... About the only thing I tried was a donut or washer-like magnet and some single flapper reed valve stuck to it. I wonder if a reed could be part valveless, that is, not really smack into anything but occlude a large portion of air from getting "through" on the "closed" phase.
Oh well, off to work, just a thought.

I like that Idea. If you could find a thin Iridium magnet ring. Hold the valve open. Closes on combustion. Repeat, Repeat.

Problems: Magnets loose Energy with shock , heated or concussion. I think the valve would last a lot longer then Reed type subjected to the Stresses of flexing. With a center support, it may work. Ring type valve and valve seat and support.

Q. Would the magnet be able to pull the valve shut fast enough?

Mike Often wrong, never unsure.
