I was watching a program on TV this morning called "Sunday Morning", and it did an expose' on the Burning Man Festival out in Nevada. Seems to me these guys and their hobobeque would fit right in. Interesting, the cost to get in Burning Man is $200.00 the program said.

Here's some dialogue from the show and some of the comments/opinions at the bottom were mildly interesting.

Just some out on a limb/vunerable tidbits. I wonder if one could make a tiny and weak pulsating/puffing engine using this philosophy, with very thin reed/flap valves, perhaps at both ends, with only air slugs instead of a piston, enough to compete with a putt putt boat or something? That is, trick a slug of air traveling down/channeling into a narrow tube, (to confine it) ,and have it dart back and forth as heat is sucked in one end and perhaps air exhausted and admitted at the other end. That's a hard question. Maybe it could have three chambers or channels, the air pressure constantly fluctuating, the reeds opening/gating inward and outward at opposite ends, depending on the tricky design of the labyrinth. Oh my head hurts. ha
Or I wonder if something similar to a putt putt boat coil could work if the chamber was very large in proportion to the exhaust tubes, could a feedback develop? All this would be on a small scale of course, and cooling would be needed to create/maintain an imbalance.

"I guess it sucks in hot air wich cools rapidly by the aluminium cylinder and creates a vacuum
so it actually works by vacuum instead og pressure as in a normal combustion engine

G,
you nailed it. couldnt have said it any better myself.
some call it a vacuum atmospheric engine but i like flame sucker better."

The last part of this kind of reminded me of Hero's steam engine. Then I started to vaguely wonder if you could make a pulsating jam jar using dry ice somehow, maybe employing some sort of valving to up the pulsations.
Not all that exciting a show/demonstration, but a primordial starting point perhaps. Semi-yawn. Interesting how two bits congregate/join in one scene by themselves, around 2:07 into the show. If there were some way to shape the ice into little tubules, maybe they would propel themselves in a pleasing/sublime fashion like putt putt boats. Sublimating submarines even. Oh!!

Last part is redeeming. I'm easily amused though.
