New Engine type, 75 MPG, 100,000 mile oil changes
A new engine type....It seems to operate sorta like a Wankel and a form of Turbine in the compression sense! They are talking about 75 mpg! 100,000 mile oil changes, and few moving parts.

They did not state what the horse power would be at 75 mpg......
But it's cool.....
Looks like minimum milling and castings required. Some place out there is a better drawing. Weird how it started as a air conditioner compressor!
I wonder who tryed to run it backwards fueled and fired it up....

They have orders for the gerotor as a compressor.
The engine is described as Should, Expected, Projected. It's a paper project and as likely to suceed as building it out of ice cubes.
Why? It's in effect a gas turbine (Brayton cycle) so the exhaust from the combustion chamber has to be as hot as possible to get the efficency up. T outlet minus T inlet divided by T outlet measured in degrees Rankine
Running the red hot exhaust gas through those nice rotating sliding bits (Check out the compressor animation) will be horrible. The recuperator improves efficiency but unless the units are huge scale effects in the 100hp range will just make the engine less horribly thirsty.
The compressor efficency curves at the 3.0 presure rise are not that flash compared to a Lysholm screw compressor so how they make the extrapolation to world beater is a bit puzzling.
Float a company, sell some shares and run away

Yep ,,,That could be the way that it works! Look at the Wankel engine..
It only lasted about 30,000 mile and all the seals blew out!
No one knew how to work on one and you was ^%$$#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At work we have two compressors, the screw type.....
They have the makings of a turbine jet engine ,,,if ignited!!!
Solar screw compressors: You have compressed air! Oil for fuel! and all it would take is a spark in the oil / air separator......as a combustion chamber......I was told by the supplier ,,,,if I see the separator can turn brown, shut down ,,,,,,,it fired up!!!!

It might be like other jet engines where you can sacrifice efficiency for more power (sounds weird but with the axial flows you can change the blade geometry to get more compression but at a loss of efficiency).

The diffuser is the outter wall and the compressor is that little wheel. It squeezes the air agasint the wall and spits out higher pressure air than it takes in. This requires that combustion makes a BUTTLOAD more pwoer than is used by the compressor.
Turbines dont find their way into cars b/c it takes about 60% of the power to spin the thing and most of the power made is at or near full throttle.
This thing has shaft power but remember, it takes 60% of the total power just to keep it spinning, and if it has 100 shaft hp then it takes more than double that to keep the engine spinning, even at the low compression!!
Now there may be some hidden feature to it, like double or triple (etc...) spools, which means that each stage could give 3:1 compression. The full sized rolls royce triple spool turbofans can have greater than 52:1 compression, the highest of any internal combustion engine!!
Triple spooling an engine of this type doesnt look as complex as it is in an axial flow turbine...

They taught high efficiency! Due to the preheating of air and intake, from past burn. Yet like Johansson stated 3:1 is rather low on the compression side.......I don't see much mass on the rotor/gear.. The torque would have to be made up by RPM.
I don't see a whole lot of differance between it and a Wankle type engine exept the preheated intake and the number of lobes on the gear...
Maybe they plan on staging them up to say 12:1 again little torque and high RPM.......
I like the Idea of so few moving parts. Low oil requirements. Out side of the shaft bearings , there seems to be no friction points....The Valves look to be of the Reed type and could be a week point....
