My recently restored 1980 XS650 Yamaha engine beside a pic of a German
Hosk, 1918. These engines are remarkably similar.

a vertical Twin without dynamic balancers to offset the natural vibration of two large pistons pumping up and down ...


I hope to be riding this bike to cruises, next year. I still have a front brake
problem to remedy.

It's a 24 hr endurance race, if one did not know already. They race at
night and in the rain. Go rent or borrow the DVD or VHS of Steve McQueen's
"LeMans" to see some Porsche 917 action! He did some of the driving.
