He says he uses the coanda effect for protecting those valves.

Hi Eric,

Do you think it's neccessary to have a complete split combutstion path?

I wonder if the combustion cycle of one side would help pull air into the intake of the other combustion chamber if the exhaust tube became one at some point. This might just allow a lot more fuel/air to be injested.
There may not be much of a return flame to ignite the fresh charge but if the CC were hot enough or if a spark were continusly pulsed.

Any thoughts?

Maybe he has 2 large flaps angled backwards, attached at the middle and can move indiviuallly of eachother. It would be aerodynamic, but not sure how the coanda effect would come into play as none of us know the inside layout.

So no one here knows how the valved or the valveless "X-Jet" works?

I do know how the valved one works. I am familiar with all its details, but have agreed not to share the information. I have forgotten the performance figures but I think I have them written down somewhere. I just remember them as quite impressive.

I don't think anyone but Bruce knows details of the valveless X-Jet.

Can you at least tell if the coanda effect has been used for valve protection, please.(if you want to)

Wasn’t this cruise missile to be powered by the x-jet.
Bruce is still there, last comment from him on 9 may 2006.

I am not quite certain what you mean by the use of Coanda effect for valve protection. I do not see anything like that in Bruce's layout.

What I can say is that the flow from the valves towards the center of the combustion chamber differs considerably from the flow in the opposite direction. With some stretching of the term, perhaps this could be called the absence of the Coanda effect.

I don't think so. As far as I can remember, Bruce has kept the two projects separate. He may have planned to power the thing with the valved X-Jet, though. I don't really know. The mockup on his website carries a very short-looking engine. The valved X-Jet is very short for a pulsejet.
