I just wanted to mention something that I have started telling people. If nature not god made humans then anything that I could possibly do would be considerd natural :) People use the words natural or unnatural without realizing the implication of a supernatural to define it.

Ahh! Time to read John Stuart Mill. Hard read but he is one of the first to discuss what is "natural" often actually used by people who actually mean familiar. His book "The Subjection of Women" goes into this.

After all of the anatomy classes I have had I would love to see body worlds! I saw it on the discovery chanle once but I forgot the name of it. I know they have a pretty good anatomy museum in Chicago.

I was reading about Mr. Octopus in a magazine last night. If you recall, he can form his body into a piece of seaweed, a sea snake, a scorpion fish, or a piece of coral, etc. Yet this article went on to say he/she can also mimic a round ball drifting across the bottom of the sea floor walking on two tentacles rather sneaky like, yet not only does the octopus blend in in this way, he also is able to strobe, say the water and waves this particular day are choppy and the light is flickering and flashing playing off the sunlight, the article said the octopus not only can raise welts on it's body to blend in with a certain texture and walk along the bottom on two legs, but it is also very careful to strobe or flicker to match what the sunlight is doing, careful to follow the light, match it in such a way as to blend in as it slinks along the sandy bottom, not race ahead or fall behind what the sunlight is doing.
And that is a very fascinating thing, as if thinking about it were as easy as a savant crunching numbers without thinking about it.
