Acoustic Compression Combustion Engine / World Wide Market

Post by luc » Mon Nov 15, 2004 4:50 pm

Greetings guys,

As I could notice, I obviously child out my previous thread on The Gluhareff Engine and I think that okey. This thread is a wounder by itself and futur reference for anyone later.

Now ... here is my new poject.

I am strating this new thread to evaluate what is the world wide market potential for acoustic compression combustion engines. Actually, what I am trying to see is if there is still a potential for these engines. Maybe they have been around for too long?, maybe to many have been sold or spreaded already?, Maybe no one want to buy anymore but want to build them self? Or maybe to many peoples have lost their money with Internet fraudulous Websites? Or maybe the potential is just plain dead for those engines now.

When Viv and I started our buisness, we taught the market for recreational engines was a good one to exploit and many engines still had a great potential. Obviously, it seems to be very different from our expectations and I am curious to see WHY.

Actually, this new forum could be very usefull to more then us, where it can actually be usefull reference to anyone (Commercial or non-commercial) that produce these engines. It is also a chance maybe for you guys to express what you really want or what concerns you have on the present availability for those engines.

So, if you have interest in this thread, post a reply under this message indicating :

1) What type of engine you are interested in (i.e : Jam jar engine, chineese pulsejet, pressurejet …ect)?

2) Would like to get plans, material, parts or a complete engine?

3) What is preventing you from getting what you want (i.e : Time, availability, money, resources or lact of trust in Internet transactions … ect).

4) When do you plan to fullfill your project (Within a year, 2 weeks … ect).

Make it short (i.e : I would like the engine, I want the plans only, my restrictions are time or money or …ect, I am affraid of buying from the Net, I plan to fullfill this project in so many time).

As I said previously, this could also be very usefull for many peoples, a reference for anyone and maybe learn some lessons from it.

I am waiting for your replies,

Regards,

Luc

If I bought anything, it would be a complete propane valveless engine, ready to go after some minor assembly.

1) valveless

2) Parts....And/OR....all welded up (offer both options maybe?)

3) i) pricing

ii) availibility

4) This question could be answered in too many different ways :)

1) valveless

2) plans (parts and/or completely welding depends on the frabrication material and compexicity of fabrication, e.g. usage of u-bends)

3) -pricing and buying methode (e.g. pay-pal, online banking)

-lack of free time (e.g. still to build or to finish kart, plane etc.)

-lack of suitable engine using areas (official pulse jet prohibition at german model plane fields for example)

4) as soon as possible; let's say a month or so

They are surely not too expensive in general, but to expensive for me, only having a few hundred Euros per month!

A really big pulse jet, I'd like to see an Ecrevisse type engine, is just as interesting as a tiny valveless (any type, max. ID 50mm or so).

Maybe a possible price can be send per email by the firm after someone has posted the wishes of "his" pulse jet to this firm. Perhaps somepne only wants to have plans, another one a ready-to-run engine.

OK, here's mine:

1) What type of engine? Rossco engine, i.e. Schubert with the snout shoved back into the chamber. Weight: 10 Ounces; thrust: 40 ounces; max length: 16 inches; max diam: 1.5 inches; liquid fueled/carbureted

2) How would you like them (i.e : plans, material, parts or a complete engine)? Fully formed parts, ready-to-weld; OR, fully built & tested

3) What is preventing you from getting one? Availability; no means of doing good cone rolling and no easy source for tubing

4) When do you plan to have one? Just dreaming ...

Luc,

1) Chinese Valveless, about 70-100 cm long
2) Complete engine
3) Nobody sells them
4) When I can buy one for less than $300 CDN

Luc,
I would like a quartz jam jar so I could see the effect and not have to worry about cracking.

Luc has asked me to moderate this forum to keep it on task, that is, the poll as he outlined it. I'll try to preserve your timeless blurbs somewhere, but you'll be at risk if you go on a rant here. ;-)

Hi Luc,
I'd like a true Reynst shaped engine for Christmas Santa. The one like in the book Pulsating Combustion, a meter tall I think Bruno says it is, but if it were even half that tall, that would be OK too.

I found these Vollrath stainless steel canisters made in Sheboygen, Wisconsin, a northern stainless steel. I have jam jarred this shape, it's a liter of fun, but the curvy shape reminds me of the base of a Reynst type combustor.

Like it. Must get one!

Luc, I'd like a 1/2 scale stainless Ecrevisse C. Stamping it as halves and welding would be good fun. It would need boundary layer correction.
I'd pay $350-400 for finished, $250 for kit.

Ooops. A failure of mine:
3) -pricing and buying methode (e.g. pay-pal, online banking)
I ment: Is there no other possibility to pay for an engine, the (rolled) parts or simply the plans? Really nothing but the internet?
