What kind of frequency does it run at? I'm hoping it is low and bassy! Look forward to seeing such a thing at any meet, ofcourse we'd have to drink the beer first. If anybody is worried about detonating their giant grenade I would reccomend burying it right up to the opening. I have clay soil which ...

Yep, Scrapheap Challenge for the jetkart, Junkyard Wars for the jetboat(not yet shown in the UK I think), both successes. I can vouch for the astonoshing noise made by the kart despite living miles from the track.

Yeah, that all fits ok. I've not yet got to economy and hadn't considered it. Any heat radiated externally is wasted energy, unless you are using it for something. A ceramic coating on the inside of a pulsejet might then prove worthwhile. Happy to stand corrected, Mike. N.B. The more I think about i...

Pulse Jet on TV

If you can get the UK's Channel 4 TV station you will see Bruce Simpson build and run a jet kart with a fairly large lockwood next Sunday(11th July) at 6:30pm BSuT. Not much to be learn't from it but it is a good demonstation of the principles employed.

I am even more interested in the fact that more heat will remain inside the engine. It can only help performance. Of course, as always happen, it will introduce new problems elsewhere, but that's normal in engineering. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Surely not. In a single port pulse co...

Hey now I really feel left out, I can be in Cambridge in 45 mins. Whether I can bring a running engine or not is the next question. There are dozens of air feilds around here where noise is acceptable, Santapod being my closest, I heard Bruce Simpsons jet kart run when he made Scrap Heap Challenge f...

A rubbish burning jet engine would make a celebrity of you for sure, I won't dampen your spirits but surely your'e joking.
Coal dust probably, saw dust? not in my estimation, I have trouble mixing propane.

I'm there with you Bruno I have a good plan for such tests. With donor 2stroke motorcycle find cylinder, head, plug, ic, cooling fins and four holes to bolt a variety of pipes on. Think pipe inside pipe for multiple ports, I would start with a mushroom shape pushed progressively inside the cylinder ...

This is great, I don't know how you find the time Rossco but its definitely worth finding, you productivity is impressive.
Does your pipe run rossco with the larger intake, I mean is it protuding into the chamber still.
Impressed,
Mike.

Forget the football, how about the cricket. Its the most English of things and we are still good at it. Used to be good at other things too. Our social climate is currently unproductive. Paying for our tiny houses is all most of us do it seems. A whole generation may never own their own home. I ough...

Zero intake length is indeed possible, but in my experiments makes for poor running. If you cut the intake pipe off of a lockwood then make the hole smaller, with say a washer, you should get it to run, I have. Lots of small holes may enable the original intake area to be achieved with the added dra...

Excellent stuff, however it still requires construction and calibration.
I wonder if simpler would be better, skateboard, pulley(car alternator) and bucket of sand? Weigh the sand?
Just a shedjestion.

This thread really ought to have this picture in it, I think total thrust was 244lb's, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Are there any stats for this plane? Weight, lift speed, max speed and so on. I've no intention to fly supersonic, just self launch, but feel a jet-glider is a possibility. I'm curr...

Thankyou very much for those pic's but the astonishing complexity of that engine is not what I was hoping for. I was simply hoping to remove the ignition circuit from an already simple engine. Still it will never be as simple as a valveless pulsejet, no moving parts, no corrosive parts= long life an...

I believe MK is mostly resposible for the KPT-01 and that someone else can simply build it from the one drawing is excellent. The size is almost ideal for home builders in respect that its large enough to take direct injection of fuel into the cc yet small enough for the boot of a car. A superb effo...
