Re: Basic Gasifier Build

Hi Joe

Will you continue to add fuel in stick form or go for chipping it this time to make it more uniform?

Re: The Impulse jet engine

yeah its a jet engine as with no moving parts and it also have the toroidal combustion chamber in it. it is formed in a most thick cylndricl side wal of the engine housng And it probably will not work due to combustion pressure instability and distribution around the total length of the chamber, an...

thanks for posting this movie. it helped my in my project which is near to the completion stage thanks Hi Hughe A pleasure, I have a lot of other videos too for the 130R and 20 pounder versions of the L shape engine, also the later inline versions of both as burners, some of those I will publish on...

Re: increase the thrust whit to modification

viv, could you describe or post some pic of that where you face the prblem i mean the stage at which the result is poor Hi Hughe The problem with this type of modification placed directly behind the chamber convergent section (to the tailpipe) is that it affects the wave timing around the bottom of...

The Impulse jet engine

I have always had a soft spot for the impulse jet engine of Robert Chester, its a toroidal design with the combustion chamber incorporated in to an airfoil duct as an annular chamber, its a pressure jet derivative as one embodiment uses a heat exchanger coil and nozzle arrangement to induce intake a...

Re: pulsejet combustion in microgravity

Hi, Yes Hydrogen could be tricky to handle but may I suggest you turn the problem on its head for a moment and attack it from another direction, How much data are you going to collect? and how? That may seem counter intuitive but it would give you an idea of how long your experiment had to run, this...

Re: pulsejet combustion in microgravity

The most elegant and simple of experiments for the vomit comet is probably going to be a jam jar with a jell type fuel, should also be the easiest to safety proof

Re: CAD Programs - Some free tools, and links.

Hi People Found this in my travels today "CADuntu has a new name: LibreCAD" this is now also in Ubuntu so easy to install. (but try not to confuse it with LibreOffice the free and open source office suit) "CADuntu is a 2D CAD drawing tool based on the community edition of QCad ported to Qt4 and work...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Hi Erik As I have stood next too and climbed all over a real Argus while it was still bolted to the V1 can I go out on a limb and ask why half scale and why not build a full scale one? (or the smaller Porch version) how big is this yacht you have lined up? we know a full scale Argus works (and its r...

Re: pulsejet combustion in microgravity

Hi, over the years I have read a few papers on combustion in drop chambers (tubes) to simulate microgravity combustion so the subject is investigated and published, I would start there with a simple search, your other assumptions are correct for how combustion takes place in microgravity and my own ...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Hi All

In the Argus there are some aerodynamic flow straighteners mounted just behind the valve grid, do you or Bob have those fitted to your engines? it may cause the heating pattern you see
