Re: Acoustic Compression Combustion Engine / World Wide Mark
Equip a snocat with a big gluhareff, and video the ensuing mayhem. Hell, a bobsleigh or luge with a 130kg gluhareff and go _up_ the run with it. Get video of test firings of all the various pulsejets you have, with maximum fireball madness. You get the idea. I concur. A video of one of your jets ru...

Re: Acoustic Compression Combustion Engine / World Wide Mark
I don't see why you couldn't move them on E-Bay, especially with a good "Buy It Now" price. Somebody paid $28,000 US for a grilled cheese sandwich last week, so I think a few hundred for a valveless pulsejet would not be asking too much. That guy from Oregon has sold at least six of his Solar-jets i...

Re: video data storage
1) What format does it save the movies in? I just checked one of the mpeg clips on my hard drive and it says it used 1.15 megs for 21 seconds, so that works out to about 19.5 mins for 64 megs of the same format. AVI files are much larger and Windows Video files can be very small if you need them to ...

Re: Kenneth, please help Mark (Thixis)
I've had hardly a problem with the site either. I was getting those 'reply notification' e-mails for a while but I managed to turn that off and now its perfect.

Re: Something That Might Sell
Pezman, Paypal is very safe and it is probably the best way to make online payments of any sort. It is certainly the cheapest, quickest, and easiest method to transact business worldwide in many different currencies. An alternate method that is a bit more expensive and inconvenient for buyers is Bid...

Re: Something That Might Sell
Those look great, Larry. Selling those small posters one a time would be rather difficult I think. Throw in the "What every man wants..." one and sell them 3 for $17 or maybe $20 on E-Bay. I think they would move pretty quick like that. I would buy a deal like that. Christmas is coming so you want t...

Re: Something That Might Sell
I think the poster idea is pretty good overall. A pulsejet running full tilt is very visually interesting, even in still pictures. If you could somehow get one of your posters into some celebrity's hand you would have it made. People will buy the damndest things if a celebrity even just mentions the...

Re: Pipe organ stuff
Maybe you could set an organ pipe some distance back from an augmented pulsejet and use that airflow to generate a note. You could choose a jet whose frequency complements that of the pipe somehow and create some otherworldly sonic effect. By the way, what did you do with all your knocked-down trees...

Re: Pipe organ stuff
It's interesting how the pitch changes with the force of the draft up the pipe. Would it be a change in airflow velocity that alters the frequency of vibration? Larry, do you think those square organ pipes could be make out of solid pine? I have a whole bunch of 6 foot and 8 foot s4s pine that is ab...

Re: Something That Might Sell
Well I still want a Larry "Shotgun" Cottrill poster and I will pay 7 US dollars for it (plus shipping by USPS Air Mail). Posters are one product that could be moved on E-Bay very easily. If the poster is affordable and has some humour to it, you will get a lot of impulse buys by people who know noth...

Re: FAA requirements for Light Sport aircraft, pilots
I think 'experimental' means that a one-off design for personal non-commercial use. It does not have to be groundbreaking or technologically advanced in any way, just homebuilt from raw materials (as opposed to a kit).

Re: Scramjet tested again
I read about this on the BBC website. Very exciting! I suppose being way up high in the thin air would relieve some of the effects of the 'meteor effect' because fewer atoms would be making fricitonal contact with the skin of the craft.
