Re: Lady Anne variation.

With UFLOW1D, looks like I get precisely equivalent results with the unpacked pipe (including the transition zone) at initial internal temps of 1800 degrees throughout and the intake stack at just 350 degrees throughout. Same frequency, same antinodal point, virtually identical curves overall. Inte...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear Mike. Looking at my technique for unpacking this motor. My approach gives me very good correspondence between the models predictions and the physical motor but perhaps more importantly suggests how this motor may be satisfying both your criteria at once. I think it is inherent in the unpacking ...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear M. Many thanks again I deeply appreciate the efforts you have made. I need to reread your papers and collect my comments but 'In general' the comments suggest, " Reasonably good but could do better". Ha One point that strikes me. Some of the concepts and ideas bound into this motor owe a lot to...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear M. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into this analysis. It's much appreciated. I realise the audio track is clipping. Sometime in the next month I'll attempt to make a high quality recording. The sections of audio track I tested, near the end of the run (at full power) gave me...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Good morning Nick.
With the price of household energy going up I think we should get that pot of yours running again!!
Keep well. I hope to see you soon. Let's make some waves on the Welsh boarders?

Best Regards
Graham.

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Hi Mike.
Yes please. The unpacked model I'm using is about 2 years if not more years old . I'd like to run one of your unpackings and see what NUDiS makes of it.
Come to think of it I may have your technique here somewhere.
Did you get the numbers I posted above for you?

Regards
Graham.

Re: Lady Anne variation.

(ie., to 100.5 mm of the 559 mm physical length); where does this map to on the unpacked representation of this motor? This would help me a lot! Cheers, M. Ok. From the Open End of the Tailpipe to the Maximum dia of the CC : all the dims are as per my drawing. The rest of the unpacked length is ind...

Cheers,

The unpacked model I've used has a physical length of 696mm

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear M. Thinking again about how I generated the values. The values shown relate to a physical location (strictly cell number) on the unpacked motor. The acoustic length of the motor has been taken into account by the Navier-Stokes equation during the calculation of these points. Does that make more...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Just found your latest post! These samples were taken from a NUDiS thrust run at 4.9 Lbsf. Graham, what is the correlation between "% of unpacked pipe" and percent of acoustic length? Is the "unpacked pipe" with the induction tube relocated to the front? Or the other way 'round? Cheers, M. I notice...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear Mike. Here are the numbers you wanted. The numbers represent the Velocity zero crossing points as a percentage of the unpacked motor. The Tolerance in the first set is given by my acceptable upper and lower combustion gas velocity limits. Where I have multiple crossing points I've shown these a...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear M & M. I used to think the use of a straight bit of pipe connecting combustor to tailpipe, (a timing devise; optimised for one half of the cycle only,) was an act of laziness on behalf of designers. No, not now. Now I consider it to be only one of (at least) 2 paths. I've chosen to explore the ...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Dear M.
Many Thanks.
I look forward to reading it. All Night, Oh Dear!
The poetry? It made me smile! Will you be publishing the collected works soon?

Best Regards
