cutting sheat metal

Harbour Frieght has an electic shear that is rated up to 18 gauge stainless. It saved my ass this last week. I wasted 3 hours of a Saturday trying to use my hand shears. They worked but I couldn't find the strength after the first big cone. So I bought the eletric shear, and it works great. It's ver...

Lathe

Hey Mark,

Are you able to cut threads with your lathe?

I don't think you can do that with this one.

Pressure Jet

Hey Jerry,

Thats nice. Did you run it?

Also, Is there some sort of gasket that keeps the exhaust tube conected? If so what kind of material can handle that heat?

Thanks,

It would be nice to see a movie of that running!

Cheers,

Saturday at Camerillo Airport

We all had a blast at the Camerillo airport. I was not able to get my new PJ to run properly. I think I may need a leaf blower so that I can get airflow more uniformly over all the intakes. I did have some promissing resonances though, and they did get better when I extended the intakes. Since this ...

Jam Jars

I would also like to guess that the surface area of the bottom of the jam jar would also be a factor to some extent. The larger surface area the more fuel vapor available. Also don't forget that acyetelen can decompose on it's own without oxygen. So filling up a metal jam jar may still be dangerous....

Well it's DONE! haven't tryed it yet. May have to wait till Saturday. I really have a burning desire to put some ethanol in the CC and see what happens. Here are some more pictures. One is with the extensions. They are a little large on the diameter, but the closest I could find to fit. The other pi...

Jam Jar

How many hertz would a jam jar run at.. I guessed at like.. 5 since it was small and such. Im probably wrong. Im trying to upload the video but youtube is being lame. It depends on the size of the jam jar, and to some extent on the fuel. At the PJ meet. I heard a metal jam jar run on methanol and t...

Brass / Copper

Thanks Irvine for the info. In the pictue above I used my acyetelen / oxy gas welder setup. I had to be real careful not to melt the brass fitting. I was holding the flame like 12" away form the part. I used silver brazing solder the not so cheap one from home depot. It has the blue flux around the ...

Great idea larry.

I think i might just have some around.....

Right now the connector appears to be air tight. I won't know till I hook it up to propane under some serious presure.

I guess I should hook it up to my air hose and see if I blow the seal...

Almost done! The wify let me play with my torch in the garage tonight. I only need to make the intake extensions with flare, they will alow me to adjust the intake length. I had real fun making the 3 tube fuel lines. I ended up brazing them onto the end of an air hose connector. It's amazing how eas...
