Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
Hejsan Anders! Ummm... If you won't leave for your vacation, then how I am ever going to have mine? Sigh. There is no way of telling how much drag the kick with me on it will produce. This statement is entirely false . This is a real world problem , and not subject to conjecture. You may reca...

Re: Oh noes!
Hello Jutte -- 6) They are are total waste of time? Ding! You have my "vote". Plus , forget options (2 - 4). Whether they look cool or not is entirely subjective. The noise rose from merely "Oh that's quite loud" to..."Shut that bliming thing off!!!". So I suppose that was a subjective improv...

. People are very draggy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/3d/Homer_D%27oh.png/180px-Homer_D%27oh.png Calculating an exact terminal velocity...is a bit meaningless and overly idealized. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/3/3d/Homer_D%27oh.png/180px-Homer_D%27oh.png http:...

Re: Calculating top speed on ice...
A special " Chunky Bacon Hello! " to Simon (and Ruby fans everywhere) :D Hejsan Anders! 97km/h was [is] a bit slower than I had expected... No worries with respect to top speed , Anders : you will easily exceed 100 kph , IF you have the balls for it! I do not have the time to get into this...

Re: Throttle unbound
Hej!
Enjoy your vacation and let's catch up on the flip side!
Cheers,
M.
Roger. Topping off once started sounds smart and it is certainly volume efficient, IF you can do it safely.Johansson wrote:The idea is to refuel once the engine is started and running on liquid.

Re: Oh noes!
Hello Metiz! I've heard stories that it/they help increase efficiency by up to 20 percent in certain engines. No doubt. Keep in mind that "stories" is exacty what they are. Pulsejets are thermoacoustic devices, and the "D/R" cones hose up the acoustics . If the engine is already hosed up (my point f...

Oh noes!
Hello Metiz, I am getting a bit obsessed with getting 20 pounds out of my thermonese. If by "divergent/reflector" you mean the paired, asymmetrical facing cones that interrupt the tailpipe on certain pulsejets, *please* do not waste your time . Not if you are looking to increase thrust output. Any p...

Re: Throttle unbound
Hejsan Anders! That I cannot allow! LOL...I was "kinda sorta" looking forward to your vacation, as I need to focus on some other tasks for a time. It would be a shame if we didn´t post any speed guesses in it. [this thread] No rest for the wicked! No worries there; however, the calculations may not ...

Hejsan Anders!
Totally awesome, dude!
Today, I bought the Compleat Illustrated Guide to Thumb Twiddling (2009);
should help me piss away time whilst you are on vacation. Once can only hope!
Cheers,

Re: Throttle unbound
Hej! For a true night run I'll have to wait a month or two... No worries. The big idea is to have more contrast to pull out the heat pattern (think: overexposure). It took a while to get the fuel flow that linear. What you did achieve is more than acceptable . That "bump" is not something that you c...

Too bad, so sad.
Hejsan Anders! No time for any night runs for a couple of weeks, on thursday I go on a 3 week vacation. Too bad, so sad. :( About the throttle valve, the needle is ground so the fuel flow is roughly linear. Very sweet, considering you were working with a circular port. It takes a slot to achieve tru...

Re: Throttle unbound
Hejsan Anders!
Looking better everyday. While you wait for more steel, do you have other mischief planned?
Cheers,
M.
PS: By "mischief", I mean "Night run, please!" (dawn or twilight will do). Maybe 60 seconds.
Thanks, mate!Johansson wrote:It must be your lucky day!

Throttle unbound
Hejsan Anders! A helper is much needed for these sorts of tests, especially one that invites you for coffee and cakes after the test. <comeback="AustinPowers"> Oh, behave! </comeback> I made a throttle valve for the pocketbike project a couple of years ago which might come in handy now. Wow ....

Re: Ice hot!
. The injectors were quite frosty since the engine hadn't run for long. Understood. I think the captured heat pattern is acceptable , even if it is shifted deep into the tailpipe, as longer firings will see this reversed. The acoustics are excellent , and these carry much more weight with me than e...

Ice hot!
Hej! Any thoughts about this? [ he at pa tt ern ] Looking now. Was the photo taken with the injectors frosted, or after they thawed out? Cheers, M. Additional: Back now. Due to the camera (microphone) location (ca. 90 deg. relative to motor axis), resonance frequency has up-shifted to ca . 167 Hz an...
