re: Ignition driver problem

Great news! Which layout are you using? Heat seems to be an issue in all the spark circuits I've built. The 100V 10A Darlington transistor that I've got in my circuit gets pretty damn hot. I use a heatsink and keep the runs short. I've never had any part failures yet, but I haven't done any extended...

re: Ignition driver problem

In my experience, it is terribly hard to kill an auto coil. Their entire life is spent in a rough, high vibration environment. Usually they are on the firewall or fender wall next to the headers or other high heat objects. I've run them on 12V A/C at 60hz and blown them wide open. They seem to hate ...

That is a beautiful spot, which brings up a thought...

Shade. Do we have anything to make some? I'll try to get a friend's Easy-Up.

Re: re: Ignition driver problem

My transistors are brand-new and aren’t the problem. I guess i should have said that the speaker does get much louder but it came out long. Even with the darlington circuit I can't get any decent sparks. It’s really starting to frustrate me. I have finished my big turbo jet but can't start it t...

re: Ignition driver problem

Nanosoft, What type of batteries are you using? You'll need to be able to deliver about 5 amps at 12V, or 3 amps minimum. Also, my experience with the 3055 based circuits has been horrible. I'm a newbie with electronics, but have a couple of phd EE's at my disposal and they both have helped me work ...

Re: re: Seen this?

I'm worried about the sealing. Chopping it up is not that bad an idea -- certainly protects you from implosion, which has bugged many a Lockwood. But, sealing so many joints well without precision machining is a tall order. I've thought about this as well, due to a dream of building a easily transp...

Re: Ignition driver problem

Ok so my ignition setup right now is a piece of junk and never works so i decided to build a electric circuit based on a 555 timer chip. I found many plans on the Internet and built many of them on a breadboard. The problem is i can't get a spark bigger then around .1 mm The circuits work but i can...

Sweet! We'll be able to tell when the beer is getting warm.

See folks, I told you we'd have the cooling issues handled...

re: I've got a pocket Lockwood too!

Mike,

That first picture is priceless.

I'll find the time to build up a little one this weekend. We'll have a mini pulsejet jam session at the meet. We need an old R/C car chassis to we can do speed runs.

Any of the kids coming out to the meet?

re: pocket lockwood?

Steve,

That little thing is so damn amazing.

Have you tried any other fuels?

Have you made any changes to the dimensions you posted previously?

Nice work! I'm hoping to build one for the meet, but struggling to find the time.

Just a note.

My wife may be coming with me. She's run our pulsejets many times and helped me build tesla coils and other assorted projects.

Re: re: American West Coast Pulsejet Meet, April 30

There's a map on his site. Chris and Nano, I hope you don't mind a little extra drive... It's about 2.5 hrs southwest of Avinal. I'm not too worried about the extra distance. The closer the better, obviously, as it will alllow me to stay longer. As it is, I'll have to leave around noon on Sunday. I...

I'll add our burn/medical kit if I can find it.

We take it to Burning Man every year, where I'm sure you can guess, there's a whole lot of fire and hot stuff... Haven't needed it yet.
